Went to this place based off the reviews. My fiancé asked the owner to give us a plate with everything so we can try it. So he told him it would be $28… when he finished bagging all the food, (side note… the chicken looked overcooked, but the ribs did looked good). When he calculated our price he told us it would be $43! So my fiancé asked why is it so much, he said it’s $5 extra to use a card. So the price still not adding up. My fiancé told him well I will pay cash. So he said it would be $36 or $38 in cash. So my fiancé pulled out $100 bill and he said he didn’t have change. So my fiancé said well we’re not paying $43 for one plate. It’s not worth it after you told us it’s $28 from the beginning… to make a long story short, he started getting disrespectful with us and threatening to call the police and we said okay call, we will wait right here. He refuses to call and just asked us to leave. So we just left because he did not want to work with us after her tried over charge us!...

I just had to post a review to put some realistic expectations out there.

Was our food fresh out of the smoker or freshly made? No. Was everything good? Emphatically yes. We had spare ribs, cayman beef, and beef ribs (which turned out to be what we call short ribs in the US. Everything was very good! The ribs were not tough or dry. I love the cole slaw and beans and rice.

People have to understand this is a small business, they're making barbecue. It's not a short process. If you wanted fresh barbecue, you would have to order the night before or early in the morning and and come pick it up for dinner. This is the slow time of the year and we were the only ones there at the time. It would be impossible for them to make each order when it's placed, or during this time of year to even make it fresh each day.

Would we come back, most definitely! Thanks for the...

We’ve been on Grand Cayman for 10 days, and all of the food has been pretty similar with exception of Big Tree. After a week of quesadilla s and vegetarian curry my family was super excited to try Big Tree after seeing the reviews. As someone that eats minimal meat, I was hesitant. However, after eating an ENTIRE plate of the BEST BABY BACK RIBS of my life I can say this place does NOT disappoint! All of the ratings are true- great portions, great deal, and incredible food! Our only mistake was not having gone earlier in the week so that we could have enjoyed lunch there more frequently! Definitely will be back for swanky, and more delicious...

When we go on vacation we always like to ask the locals what their favorite places to eat are. Big Tree BBQ was suggested by several of the people that we asked, and the food did not disappoint! As far as restaurants go, it may look a little unconventional to some, but we didn't mind at all. The food was amazingly good, and the portions were generous. The owner was very friendly and didn't mind chatting with my husband for a little while about gardening and such as he prepared our meals. We took our food to go so we could eat at the beach, but the large tree out front looked like it provided ample shade so you could easily eat on site if you wanted.

Two of is shared an order of lobster tails at lunchtime. The styrofoam box included two small lobster tails, a section of corn on the cob, rice with beans, fried bananas, and a piece of cake. All the sides were heated by microwave and were mediocre. But the lobster was delicious. For USD $31we thought the price was fair, considering we were on Grand Cayman where everything is expensive. We just wish the employee had shown us a smile or a even tiny bit of kindness. Instead the experience was nothing more than a transaction.

Drove from Seven Mile Beach area for lunch and it didn't disappoint! I had the oxtail and my husband had the spare ribs (baby back had just sold out) and both were incredible. The sides were also delicious. Had the swanky drink (lemonade/iced tea mixture) and it was very refreshing. Brought the cassava cake home for dessert and just had it...incredible! The owners were also very welcoming. Overall, worth the drive and wish I had time to go back before our trip is over!
