EASILY the best jerk pork/chicken stand on the island. Quality is consistently awesome. Andre (owner/operator) is from Jamaica and super nice guy. Prices are reasonable and haven't really increased in the 7 yrs I've been on island. Few things to note however: The meat is often not ready when you go there. If it is when you arrive then consider yourself lucky and timing impeccable! But if there IS a wait, those who know, know it is definitely worth it. Ask them how long and come back, or bring some beers and sit down at the picnic tables for a bit. The meat is cooked in batches so when it is sold it is absolutely fresh and juicy. Juicy jerk (esp chicken) is TRICKY. If you can't appreciate that good food can require a wait then go get dry meat elsewhere! Not sure of actual opening hours, they are only open in the evenings, and not sure they are there during weekdays except Friday and maybe Thurs. Might be closed Sunday as well. Always there on Fri/Sat night though. Cash only, as is the case for most road side stands. Try the hot sauce and the festival (if...
Read moreRed Bay Jerk Chicken is a fantastic place for authentic and flavorful jerk chicken and pork. It's easy to find and there is plenty of parking. The spot in Red Bay is easy to access and the site is well-lit at night.
It's quite popular for residents and clever visitors who know that good eats can be found off the tourist corridor of Seven Mile Beach at great prices for the quality and portion sizes of the plates. 2 large plates could easily feed a family of 4 and the festival bread is excellent. The sauces are great and the service is quite fast.
I enjoyed watching the chefs work so fluidly and quickly. Jerk is an art form. These folks get it right.
Chef Andre and the team serve up some of the best food on the Island 6 days a week. Love...
Read moreMy quest for the best jerk chicken on Grand Cayman ended here at Red Bay. I have spent countless days and dollars sampling jerk chicken all over the Caribbean, and this is by far among the most flavorful recipe you will find anywhere on the island. The drum grills provide that unmistakable slow cook tenderness you just can’t beat. The chicken is spiced with the right balance of allspice, pepper, and thyme - combined with the smoke…forget it! Absolutely unrivaled (I enjoyed the jerk chicken at Peppers, Rankins, Macabuca, and Tukka - but it just wasn’t the same)! Do yourself a favor and set a new precedent for “the best” jerk chicken you’ve had in the Caymans - and get a large portion at...
