We were told about The Caboose by our captain after a charter tour. On our way back from Rum Point we stopped at the Caboose and ordered a few items as we had stopped at Over the Edge for some food and drinks and it was horrible and expensive, so remembered we still could go by the caboose on the way back and get some food. We ordered the coconut shrimp and the grouper curry and let me tell you…. It was amazing!!!! We have been in the island a week and have had ok food, from Kaibo to Macabusa, agua, Tukka etc and The Caboose is without a shadow of a doubt the best meal we’ve had thus far. The place is extremely clean and very neat, unassuming and simple and yet extremely tasty!!! Our order was taken at the door by the kitchen and within a few minutes freshly made to order food was given to us. We ordered it to go but next time I’ll be eating at the restaurant as soon as it leaves the kitchen. Thank you captain Chris for sharing this awesome restaurant with us and to The Caboose, thank You for giving us such an awesome food experience since until now grand cayman island restaurants had been a bit...
Read moreWe had a great dinner here! The service was good- kind server and quick service. The place is outdoor seating, so id recommend spraying mosquito spray before going. The place offered mosquito spray when I forgot and kind enough to set out mosquito coils around our table. They don’t sell alcohol but you can go next door to grab something and bring it back to enjoy with your meal. We started with the conch fritters (5 pieces) that were so good! I got the coconut curry grouper and my partner got the cayman style grouper both were delicious! We ended with cassava cake that we enjoyed as well. We could tell this place is approved to locals as many throughout our dinner were coming and going with takeout orders. Would recommend if you’re looking for a place to eat on...
Read moreWe had stew turtle and cayman beef entrees, conch fritters shrimp Cesar salad to eat, Kola Champagne and homemade lemonade to drink and cassava cake for dessert. The entrees came with rice and pigeon peas, potato salad, and fried plantains. The food was taste, simple and hearty. The lemonade was a little on the weak side coming from country south in the US. The cassava cake isn't overly sweet and a little chewy but paired well with some hot jasmine tea with a splash of honey. Most importantly, the folks were hospitable and friendly. The meals do take a little time because ingredients are fresh and homemade - so well worth the wait. Plus, you're on island time, so sit back, relax, enjoy the breeze, flora and fauna, roaming kitties and chooks, and the chunes...
