We booked the hotel months in advance for a couple of nights as part of our honeymoon trip through the South of Chile. We arrived without trouble and, despite the rooms being quite small and lacking proper sound proofing, the view was worth the lack of space. ||||We had a dinner at the restaurant and went to sleep, at around 3am we were startled by someone screaming literally out of our door, there is only 10 rooms in the main lobby area, with a shared corridor. ||||This person clearly under the influence of drugs and alcohol was making an scene and violently close the doors and started arguing and fighting with his partner, to the point of throwing stuff to the floor and the walls. ||||We were not able to come back to sleep, the situation turned violent and we called reception who were aware of the situation but provided no solution, containment nor security. ||||We called the cops and by this point the situation was not improving and around 5am they were still discussing and arguing with the authorities in the corridor. They tried to move this person to another room, but at no point they were providing a real solution to this security issue.||||We ended up, calling another hotel at 7am to be able to move our luggage and take some rest from this unsettling situation. ||||Worst night ever, we cancelled the reservations for the following days and were told by the administrator that she would have done the same. Despite being offered the dinner as some sort of compensation we ended up paying the night even when we didn't even use the room for more than a couple of hours through the night. ||||We were told the team, administrator and owner does not care about their clients, but we trusted the trajectory of the hotel, that ended up being the biggest mistake of our trip. ||||Be aware and avoid a...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem of a hotel. Its a 1950s Modernist style architecture perched on a promentary above a large Villarrica lake at Pucon Chile. The wooded drive through the entrance hints at what is to come. Arrival at a small car park with Motel style bedrooms looks slightly unpromising, but the grapevine canopy at reception and a peek inside dispels any worries. The large lounge with matching modernist, log filled, fireplace and views over the lake welcomes you. It has a large garden leading down to a small pebble beach. The views over the lake are stunning and the light off the water keeps changing. The garden in full of flowers and hummingbirds flit and sip nectar from the colourful display. There are many quiet nooks and crannys to explore. It is a seductive place. The food is good, they grow their own herbs and the are staff friendly. You can watch the sunset over the lake, from the panoramic Windows of the dining room. There is a great sense of atmosphere and some well known people such as hollywood actor James Stewart and more recently Emma Thompson, have been guests. The general area is dominated by a still active, picturesque, snow topped mount fuji style,...
Read moreOur stay at Hotel Antumalal was nothing short of exceptional, and much of that is thanks to Beatriz, whose actions went far above and beyond any expectation. When we encountered a major issue with our rental car’s transmission, Beatriz stepped in and handled everything with incredible professionalism and care. She not only liaised with Europecar on our behalf but also arranged for a hotel car rental to ensure we didn’t miss a day of planned activities.
Her follow-through was amazing, and thanks to her efforts, a replacement car was delivered to the hotel while we were out for the day (!! Never have I seen such service). It’s rare to encounter this kind of dedication to guest experience, and her kindness and efficiency turned a stressful situation into one of gratitude.
The entire team at Hotel Antumalal has been wonderful, and Beatriz’s actions were the perfect example of the exceptional service you can expect here. If you’re looking for a place where the staff truly goes the extra mile, this is it. I cannot recommend this hotel...
