Cafe de Sofa is an awesome coffee roaster and cafe in central Beijing. It's located a little bit away from the main tourist areas on the edge of the houtong area so it's not crawling with people and mostly locals go there. It's featured in a few travel blogs so that's how I found out about it.
The cafe is three stories with seating on the second floor and a rooftop terrace on the top floor. It doesn't have a ton of seating if the terrace is closed, but when the weather is nice the terrace is great.
The owner has traveled the world studying coffee, his travel pictures are plastered on the walls clearly displaying his passion for coffee. His business partner is a small french bulldog that freely roams the cafe hanging out with patrons, she's a bit shy to new faces, but enjoys an ear rub when she warms up to you.
The coffee and food are delicious. I had the latte and it was smooth and creamy, you can taste the richness of the milk. We also ordered several food items each time we went. The sandwiches are filling and served with mushroom soup and plantain chips. We ordered the fruit waffles once and the presentation was amazing equally matching the taste.
