One sentence summary: Serve averaged dishes except pretty delicious fried dumpling in an almost substandard environment; hence, shouldn't come here before going to toilet in another place.
[Appearance] A restaurant with plain appearance inherited from its state-owned history but has a reward of "intangible cultural heritage" by its famous fried dumpling. Although it locates in People's East Road, locals could know your destination if you said "Xi-Gong-Xiao-Jie Guo-tie", or "Fried dumpling on West Labor Street."
Though there are 4 iron pans that each can offer at least 60 fried dumplings at a time, customers still have to wait to get food. During in line with tourists and local people, it's also a pleasure to see 4 cooks work in a semi-open kitchen.
[How to eat it?] Dip fried dumpling into vinegar before eating it to balance the greasy taste.
[Fried dumpling taste and price] The dumpling has a delicate golden fried surface, and you can hear "crack!" as chip-eating sound while biting into your mouth then feel the appropriate moisture of a fried dumpling if juicy one is not your favorite. Although there's only chive-and-pork flavor offered, the proportion only keep chive's taste at a moderate level, letting people like me who hate chive's strong flavor be able to enjoy it. Not to mention its affordable price which only cost you about $1 for 10 fried dumplings.
[Service& environment] Like you should help yourself while eating in a night market, here you need to order and pick food in the different windows. Surprisingly, the cleaning condition of its table and toilet couldn't be as excellent as the quality of its fried dumpling. The greasy tables on the 1st floor could be tolerant, but toilets without door nor water supply is a different story. However, what dissatisfied me was not it's untidy bathroom but the waitress's answer after I told them the overlying poops "There's no problem with our toilet. You think it's not ok then go to the toilet in the neighboring department store and come back to eat."
For my perspective, it's not a smart answer nor a well-done solution for the development of the restaurant in the long term.
Hope they could do better. But no matter what, it would be a must-go place once I visit...

The moment I entered the shop, it was quite packed and noisy but was able to get an empty seat. Went to take orders and asked for recommendations, the first thing they recommend would be their guo tie and she also recommended me to try the cows belly. I took the recommended items and also ordered an egg tomato soup which was unbelievably cheap. After making the payment, was giving separate receipts which meant had to go to different stations to collect the items, and the longest queue would be the one I saw earlier which is the guo tie station outside the shop. It was rather quick since they were good in big quantities, only had to wait a while for the cow belly to be ready. Had the guo ties with vinegar and it was good. The skin is a little thick but the filling was quite generous. The bowl of soup was so big and it just costs 2RMB which was crazy. The cow belly was also another surprise for 15RMB there were 20 sticks! I don't eat that often but it tasted very good with the sauce and 20 sticks sounds a lot but was gone it a flash. Very nice and tasty food at super cheap prices. Definitely...
