We expected more from the Sofitel especially at this price point. ||Check in - Our initial impressions left a bad taste in our mouth. We booked through a third party which said that the hotel would only charge about 33 RMB for taxes at the property and were surprised that they charged 140 RMB on top of this. It was not clear what this extra charge was for. We also had to register using dated forms asking if we have been to Wuhan in the last 14 days and when our entry date was to China. Most hotels we have been to in China stopped the use of these forms last summer but it could be a Nanjing specific requirement so expect to take a bit more time to check in at this hotel. The lobby bathrooms were locked and we were too embarrassed to ask for them to be opened.||Rooms - Very nice with comfy furniture and pretty clean. Very large bathroom and a tub large enough for me to lie comfortably in. The room also had a pretty nice view of the city. However, the rooms were too warm. The hallways were quite cool and nice but when we arrived the room was 28.3 according to the thermostat so we left the system running while we went out for dinner expecting it to cool off. When we came back our room was still over 28 so we called maintenance and they opened our window and said they might be able to fix it tomorrow but when we asked if we could change rooms we were told that all rooms would be around the same temperature and won't be cooler due to the central system. They did help temporarily fix the problem and brought up a cooling fan that worked with ice. It was fairly noisy and lasted only two hours. When you do need more ice you have to call service at this hotel so we did our best to rest in our very warm room. During our second night stay our key cards would not work so we went down to the front desk and were told the cards were fine. They came up with us to try the door with us and had to call maintenance because the battery had died. We sat in our room with the door wide open waiting for 20 minutes for a maintenance person to come to change the battery. At least there was enough time to ask for more ice for the cooler fan and call for more ice when it melted almost immediately.||The public areas - Most places had big comfy chairs and looked nice on the surface but are in need of a deep clean in the corners. Fair bit of dust and dirt in the corners. ||The pool - Very nice facility with a swimming pool and a fenced off wading area connected to the main pool. Lots of lounge chairs and a big sunroof over looking the pool. The lounge chairs were plentiful and comfy. The temperature of the pool and air were perfect. The change rooms and towels need a bit more attention as they were a bit dirty and smelled funky.||Breakfast Buffet - The food quality was inconsistent. The breakfast buffet was not good the first day with many items not cooked right. Soggy vegetables, undercooked bacon, sushi that tasted old and a long hair in an omelette. The second day was much better with crispy bacon, good dim sum options and a well cooked omelette without hair! They did have pastries that were pretty good and quite a few hot beverage stations for coffees, milk tea and hot chocolate. ||I would recommend staying at other hotels at this price point unless you like a very warm room. The closest metro station is Yunnanlu but it is a little over a kilometer away but it looks like they might get a new station nearby very soon. We chose the area because it was fairly walkable and central to many of the things we...
Read moreNot even an hello or a smile or a welcome at reception. The FOM doesnt know the law regarding checkin of foreigners. There is not law to say you need to photocopy a passport. You just need to scan to psb.. Director of Rooms could even acknowledge or say hello. I was told Andy Chen was the GM But I see in this email there is a different GM... So whats the truth Lounge not open... Drink in lobby served in a mug.. Why no glass? Room: carpet dripping wet, no amenities, no paper or things that a 5 start should have. Swimming Pool: nobody wearing swimming hats. water cloudy lack of chlorine Brekafast: Such dirty greasy table and chairs.. No 5 star selection of food on buffet, worse than an Ibis Styles... Cant even get a sparkling water (should be breakfast in the lounge, but its closed) Executive chef comes to offer special dishes... but we have to wait like 20 minutes I cant even get a glass.. for my daugher to have an apple juice The only cutlery available is a knife, fork or chopsticks. There is no teaspoons, no spoons, no break knife.. An Absolute JOKE... No real french butter, no real marlmalade (I can get all these in a Hilton Garden Inn or Hampton BUT not in a sofitel) Not even salmon or fish or meat on the buffet. Just cheap tricks to cheat the guests.. Typical of Accor hotels these days
Just a 5 star sign on the front door BUT inside worse than an Ibis styles
Another bad Accor Hotel,
The hotel should...
Read moreThe hotel service attitude is very poor, deducting money at will, the overall experience is very bad !!!||||I booked this hotel on October 3rd and 4th. The hotel called me before I checked in and told me that I was not feeling well (I was still seeing a doctor that day) and might not be able to check in. The hotel said ok, hope I get well soon, and colleagues will follow up later. I think the hotel will help me cancel the reservation.||||But this is not the case. The hotel did not help me cancel the reservation, nor did they contact me on October 3rd. They just deducted the money from me. I only found out about this when I checked my credit card bill yesterday.||||The hotel made the following mistakes. ||1. The hotel said it would record my physical discomfort, but it did not record it and did not follow up. ||2. The hotel did not follow up on the day when it did not find out that I checked in. ||3. The hotel even issued a full room notice on the day. If I did not check in, how could it be full? Is it deceiving consumers? ||Based on the above reasons, I ask the group to investigate this matter and criticize and educate the people involved. This is not an ordinary hotel, but a Sofitel hotel. There should be high-quality services here, not such a bad experience. I hope to get an apology and refund from the hotel as soon...
