Yutongheng Restaurant — Restaurant in Shantou

Upon arrival in Shantou, it was already 6.30pm and this was the restaurant we had our dinner, our very first meal in Shantou.

The restaurant building was huge and we were brought to our VIP room on the 2nd level through a flight of stairs (unfortunately they didn't have lift and the first floor was mainly buffet hotpot). The room was cosy and soon after we sat down, the serving of dishes started, one after another. If I didn't remember wrongly, there were 8 main dishes with fruit (guava).

Generally, the foods were yummy and nice and were quite relevant to our tastes since we were all Teochews. The lotus roots soup with spare ribs, oyster omelette, deep fried fish, fried noodles and muah chee were nice and flavourful. The stir fried veggies were a little over oily. They only served beer and softdrinks and it would be perfect if they also served Chinese tea.

Staff were friendly and efficient in serving food and clearing used/empty plates...
