The Eight Wonder Bar — Restaurant in Antioquia

The Eight Wonder Bar is a welcome destination due to its location up the mountain allowing for an incredible panoramic view of the surrounding Medellìn area. I ordered a veggie burger and to my surprise, it was very big😊. The drink menu is pretty good also. There are a lot of picturesque areas present on the premises. Be sure and walk around to see the variety of them. The climate may call for you to have a jacket on hand or in your car if you drive. You may need it as the evening flows into the night. Heads up, this establishment The Eight Wonder Bar only takes CASH or BANK TRANSFERS; be prepared accordingly as to NOT get caught off your game/ guard, when it’s time to pay. I really loved the painting outside of Carol G. & other local artists😍. Great pictures spot too. Go see why this is a great spot. You will not regret it. PS: It fills up fast as it is in high demand. To summarize: meh.

I do not understand the hype of this spot. Sure the view is stunning, but outside of that, there is much left to be desired. The food was overpriced and under-seasoned, and the drinks were incredibly sweet for no reason. The server was nice, but was running around trying to keep it together due to the lack of organization. They brought fries without ketchup, No salt and pepper on the table, the two drinks ordered at the beginning of the meal came 20 minutes apart, getting my change took another 15 minutes. It just feels like pure chaos. And every time you ask for something be expected to wait 10-15 mins. We were under the impression they had some entertainment, which was not the case. Lastly, the cost of using their mirador for pics is $5.000. You’re telling me that after dropping money on subpar food and service, I have to pay up for a photo?

La comida y el ambiente fueron buenos, la atención en la mesa y en los sanitarios también. Pero hay dos cosas importantes por las que solo son 3 estrellas: 1) Tienen el lugar lleno de avisos advirtiendo que no aceptan TDC (tarjetas de crédito) ni débito (TDD). Fui con dos amigos turistas de EEUU quienes quedaron sorprendidos porque les recomendé el sitio y no tenían otra forma de pago sino TDC. Afortunadamente yo podía asumir la cuenta y pagar por QR. Entonces, se tranquilizaron. Pero cuando fuimos a pagar preguntaron si sería por TDC, TDD o transferencia por QR de Bancolombia. Cuando pedimos aclaración sobre la TDC, la mesera respondió: "Si es internacional, sí aceptamos". Entonces, es muy desconcertante esto y no deja buena sensación como clientes. Mis amigos me invitaron y ya se sentían incómodos con tener que pagar a través de mí, algo que sin duda empañó la experiencia. 2) El servicio de taxi particular: Me sentí ASALTADA SIN PISTOLA. Desde mi casa en Itagüí en un Uber pagué COP $12.000 para llegar al sitio a las 6:00pm. Pero me quedé sin batería tratando de pedir otro para el regreso (y NO HAY BUENA RECEPCIÓN de celular allí), así que acepté que el vigilante me llamara uno "de los particulares nuestros, con TAXÍMETRO" (ojo con eso). No me tocó un taxi amarillo, sino un vehículo sedan cualquiera, SIN TAXÍMETRO VISIBLE y que habían llamado por radio. Como mujer sola, me sentí insegura, pero no tenía más opción. Lo peor fue que al dejarme en la puerta de mi casa y preguntar cuánto era el costo de la carrera (viendo el tablero en busca del fulano taxímetro), sacó el celular y me mostró algo que decía: "COP 33.600". Casi EL TRIPLE de lo que pagué por subir hasta el restaurante. Cuando le pregunté sorprendida por el monto, dijo que si no me habían dicho que era un "taxi particular por taxímetro". ¿CUÁL TAXÍMETRO? Si en el celular me puede poner hasta la calculadora con el monto que se le ocurra. Como cliente, tenía derecho a ver en todo momento el costo del recorrido, o al menos con antelación, para decidir a conciencia. Pero es absurdo que la misma carrera me cueste el triple. Lamentablemente, confirma esto que hay servicios turísticos y de transporte que solo buscan exprimir a los clientes. Esto dañó por completo la experiencia de visitar y comer en La Octava Maravilla. Creo que deberían revisar esto que me parece irregular, porque no creo que un taxista de verdad, con carro amarillo identificado, me hubiera cobrado lo mismo. Supongo que mejor experiencia tendrán quienes vayan en sus propios vehículos. Pero los que no, tendremos que contratar de antemano movilización de...
