If you're looking for a dining experience that'll leave you questioning your life choices, boy, have I got the place for you!
Let's start with the ambiance – it's nice. There, I said it. Moving on to the real meat of this review (pun intended, since you probably won't find any at the buffet).
Prepare yourself for a gastronomic adventure where the hunt for food is more exciting than actually eating it! The buffet offers a thrilling game of "Guess What Used to Be Here" as you stare at empty plates and wonder what delicacies you might have missed. It's like archaeological dining – you'll be piecing together clues of what food once existed!
But wait, there's more! The waitstaff has mastered the art of invisibility, appearing only when you've lost the will to live – or eat. And when they do grace you with their presence, you'll be treated to a unique form of communication. Who needs indoor voices when you can have a a waitress shout in your ear over whether you wanted still or coffee?
If you're a fan of fasting or have always wanted to test your patience, this is the spot for you! You'll have plenty of time to contemplate the meaning of life while waiting for your drinks, and by the time your food arrives (if it ever does), you'll have achieved enlightenment.
In conclusion, if you enjoy a dining experience that combines the thrill of food scarcity with the joy of being ignored, all wrapped up in a "nice" package, then run – don't walk – to this gastronomic paradise. Your taste buds and sanity...
Read moreI was excited to try La Picadería after hearing good things about it, but left disappointed and won’t return. We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for lunch on a Sunday, then confirmed said reservation the week prior. We arrived about 10 mins ahead of time and were asked by a host to wait for our table to be ready. We waited for about 20 mins without any word, and then had to ask three different hosts about our table over the course of another 20 mins. What’s the point of making a reservation if the restaurant doesn’t take the necessary steps to honor it? Once we were finally seated we ordered patacones, carimañolas, a plate of grilled vegetables, a side of corn, and two picadas. The service was good and the food came fast, but was very underwhelming. The patacones and hogao were quite bland, the chicken had a greyish appearance and oddly chewy texture, the corn was also underseasoned and partially frozen (the core was so cold you couldn’t hold it with your fingers for more than a few seconds), and the plate of grilled vegetables was beautiful and tasty but a very small amount. Everything else was just okay, nothing was particularly good. The desserts were better, we tried the chocolate cake and torta de almojábana and enjoyed both, the peppermint infusions were also very good. The place itself is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere, the waiting staff is very kind and attentive, but overall I’d say the food is mediocre at best, it’s overpriced and...
Read moreLa Picaderia is a must-visit restaurant for anyone craving authentic Colombian cuisine. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch.
The food, however, was the real star of the show. The patacones were perfectly crispy and golden-colored, and the empanadas were bursting with flavor. But the real standout were the carimanolas - both the cheese and beef varieties. The cheese carimanolas melted in my mouth, and the beef carimanolas were simply amazing.
I also have to mention the suero, which was a perfect complement to the savory dishes. And let's not forget the steak - it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. And to top it all off, the mazorca was simply delicious.
This a dog friendly spot as well so that's a bonus. I will say, make your reservations in time because it gets packed and the wait times can get rough.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at La Picaderia. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. If you're looking for a true taste of Colombia, look no further than...
