Fantastic view (when you can see it), but an overall disappointment as a restaurant.
First, the positive, this restaurant has the best views of any that I have been to, in the city of Bogota. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant, as it is built like a ski chalet. However, with this design comes some awkwardness, as the angle of the roof, and the support beams that keep them up, intrude into your personal space when eating. I had to be very careful not to turn my head too far, or else I would have cracked it against one of these struts. It is a weird design, for a restaurant with such a great view, as it feels as if half of the guests will be facing the wrong way, and unable to enjoy the Bogota landscape.
As to the food, I only tried one dish, the Ossobuco, and it was not a pleasant experience. Instead of being browned in butter and then braised with vegetable, white wine, and broth, the meat appeared to be boiled in a pot of water, and as a result, it had almost no flavor. (When you boil meat in plain water, it makes it extremely tender, but the flavor typically gets drained away to the underlying broth). The meat itself was extremely fatty, and again there was no sauce to speak of, resulting in a very bland taste. The accompanying side dish of fettuccini was loosely dusted with parmesan cheese, but again had no sauce to speak of. All in all, it was some of the driest, least flavorful Italian food that I have ever eaten. Perhaps other dishes would be better, but I doubt I would return, based on...
Read moreAlthough this is a wonderful place with great food, the service spoiled the total experience. We had made reservations but it seems like the person at the door had a hard time finding our name on the list. They took almost 30 minutes from the time we arrived to take our order on the table. After the order was taken, it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. On top of that, we couldn’t really understand who our server was as many of them were involved but nobody seems to care about our table. We had to stand up and ask one of the severs about the delay bringing the food. When the food finally arrived to our table, nobody asked us about our food, coffee or desert. We felt really awkward and decided to ask for the check. We don’t understand how posible it is such as poor service in a restaurant like that. We were celebrating our anniversary but were very dissatisfied and hardly recommend the restaurant to our friends. I strongly suggest some professional TRAINING to the staff about the basics on customer service and to take responsibility on the assigned tables. Big opportunity for improvement on...
Read moreThere was one reason that I am grooving a one star review, organisation! The food was good and the place was pretty but the staff we not organised, running around as if they were very busy but they weren't. The biggest problem was when we left. We had to wait to get out of a parking space because another car was parked in front of us (which is normal in Colombia, and however) there were a lot of people in the same situation as us. They took 30 mins to find the owner of the car and it looked like they didn't care that it took 30 mins! It was so long my wife went to complain and it takes a lot for her to complain, she is British and usually she needs to be very annoyed to actually complain to staff. That ruined our anniversary and we...
