El Solar is a very popular restaurant on the outskirts of Armenia, Quindio. Its always packed and most of the cars in front indicate that upscale locals target this place.
Pros: Nice atmosphere with view, Reasonable prices, OK service (not entirely covid prepared)
Cons: Same junk food most others serve in the area. They don't use environmentally friendly packaging for to go orders.
The white meat chicken breast still had its skin on it under the BBQ sauce. The chicken must have been only cooked on one side because the meat portion was done well but the skin was uncooked.
The pork ribs are tough and not fit for human consumption. I ask myself why in the world would someone sell ribs like this and the only answer I can come up with is just plain bad taste. I would tell the owner/ manager of El Solar to get the pork ribs at Ceron and eat them with his ribs to see the difference.
I woke at 3AM with a headache which is always the case with toxic foods (not natural) because I have hypothyroidism which is a built in system to expose junk quality that the average consumer would miss due to less food sensitivities.
The restaurant is unlikely to change because they seem to be doing well on the all important financial level.
I thought they did seem to take better (than most restaurants) precautions for Covid until I seen 5 employees in a circle less than a meter apart and 3 of them had the masks pulled down. This level of dangerous ignorance is commonplace for Quindio. This was also as the Delta variant is raging across the globe.
This is always a sign that a restaurant is just poorly managed and that always leaks to all areas of the business.
There are only three OK restaurants in Armania and El Solar is not...

I had it cooked medium and it was tender, juicy and delicious. The pepper gravy was over the top. This was the best steak I have had in Colombia. The mashed potatoes were made into a patty and braised on the outside. Again delicious. The service was outstanding. Our waiter Jesus was was fantastic and English speaking. I will return often and highly recommend the...
Read moreI feel customer service, could be improved (in my opinion they could have more staff) and that’s why I’m not giving 5 stars. Otherwise; great variety and high quality Colombian cuisine. Place is at one side of the scenic way between Armenia and Pereira, in the heart of the zona cafetera, which offers breathtaking views of the mountains, in a very comfortable temperature. Definitely, would come back. Free WiFi and parking available. Do not miss the “taza de fríjoles” at least as...
