Our visit to “donde Francesca”was unfortunately anything but pleasant. The food might have been decent, but the way guests and staff are treated leaves a very bitter aftertaste.
The table policy is disorganized and rude. We were moved multiple times because we were only a party of two. The nicer tables with a view of the beach were apparently reserved for larger groups – even when no large groups were anywhere in sight. When we were about to be moved a third time, despite already having placed our order, we decided to leave the restaurant. As guests, this made us feel completely unwelcome and undervalued.
What shocked us the most, however, was the behavior of the owner. She seems to treat her staff like subordinates, with an authoritarian and inappropriate attitude reminiscent of a bygone era. Witnessing this dynamic was not only unpleasant but also cast a negative light on the entire restaurant’s atmosphere.
Another questionable aspect: it’s noticeable that every negative review is quickly followed by a glowing review from so-called “Local Guides.” This gives the impression that criticism is deliberately being downplayed instead of addressing the issues raised.
Overall, this is not a place I can recommend if you value hospitality, respect, and a...
Read moreDonde Francesca in San Andrés, Colombia, is hands down one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve ever had. My brother traveled all the way from the USA, only to be treated with utter disregard and disrespect. This was our second visit, hoping for a better experience, but it was even worse than the first. NOT recommended for couples—unless you enjoy being shoved into a dark corner with no view.
Despite arriving to find the outside tables half empty and no line in sight, we were flatly refused a seat with a decent view simply because we weren’t a party of four or more. The staff’s dismissive attitude made it clear they had no interest in accommodating us. To add insult to injury, those same outside tables remained empty during our entire visit, proving that the “reservation” excuse was nothing more than a farce.
As for the food? Don’t bother. Bland, flavorless, and utterly forgettable. It’s shocking that a place with such a prime location can get away with serving such subpar dishes. If you’re looking for a memorable meal or even just a pleasant dining experience in San Andrés, look elsewhere. Donde Francesca is a hard pass, and we certainly won’t...
Read moreThe food is nice but hardly exceptional. The location, right by the sea, is lovely. If it hadn't been for the loud music, the atmosphere might have even been called peaceful. The interior design is very nice and graceful. The sticking point however was the service. Waiters were far busier with conversations they were entertaining or with looking at the telephone than with paying attention to the customers, who were left waving for hours before they could be attended to. And even then, the many waiters nearly shifted responsibility over who would have to talk to the customers, or looked at you from their position with the interrogative air of someone who is wondering whether you really really need them to come to you, or they could be left in peace continuing to do whatever else they were doing. The situation was so bad that I felt like apologizing for interrupting their conversation with my requests.
Then I noticed a sign on the wal, reading that "Customers don't come first. Employees come first. If you look after your employees they will look after your customers". Probably a message to...
