I wanted to love this place but there are definitely some issues. |We needed to find a nice hotel for our trip to the Irazu Volcano and didn’t want a long drive from San Juan so this place got the best reviews and it was very reasonable. Indeed it looks pretty from the outside and the people who welcomed us were very nice and only wanted to please. Unfortunately we don’t speak much Spanish and they don’t speak any English but we managed. |It was pretty cold out and the rooms only have a small 10” x 12” space heater. They told me it would be enough to heat the room but it didn’t heat more than 12” away. There is no insulation so it was pretty cold all night but the blankets were sufficient. Just made it hard to get out of the shower. They don’t have shampoo or any toiletries and the towels are rather small. Luckily enough we had called and found out that the kitchen closes at 7pm and were able to pre order a pizza.||After arriving the day and night shifts were just about to switch and the hotel receptionist was quite in a hurry to get us checked in, no information about tours, breakfast times etc. We had to eat our food in the room and had to ask for chairs and a table since there were none in the room.||Pretty cold at night but plenty warm under the adequately thick covers. Unfortunately the road was pretty active until late in the evening and you could hear it well. Wifi was very good. The staff on the following day were very friendly but did not ask why we decided to leave a day earlier than planned. Breakfast, cappuccino were above average and the restaurant staff was very friendly! ||All in all spacious but simple wooden cabins that would need some updating and love. Definitely an average or slightly above average (3.5 if thatcwere an option) accommodation but not more...
