I don’t know what this previous poster was talking about but this restaurent is excellent if you are visiting the Rincon de la Vieja park or staying at Hacienda Guachipelin but don’t want to eat anymore at the restaurant as there isn’t anything for almost 20 km. Came at 1800 since we stopped earlier and they said they close at 1900 on Sundays. Service was friendly, the waitress was a bit shy! We ordered the beef casado (4800 colones/$8, same price as the one down the road, cheaper than the hotel, but more expensive than in town... if you want to drive another 20 minutes to save 2000 colones) and the gallo con pollo. They came out very quickly after a free bowl of carrot soup (excellent!!) They were more refined than your normal soda and tastes great. good sized portions. Excellent plaintains!! We were offered free cake at the end at no charge. Should have eaten here for lunch and other dinners instead of the hotel (however the steak is very good at hacienda!) #costarica #puravida #rincondelavieja

Local soda in Curubande. If you are staying in the area or passing through on your way to or from the national park, Rincon de la Vieja, this a great place for a meal. Food is freshly prepared, flavors are great. The people who own and run the restaurant are very warm and welcoming. They also care about making their business environmentally friendly. Try the traditional cansado or tasty pasta. They don't disappoint!

Kleines familiäres landestypisches Restaurant. Echtes costa-ricanisches Essen, frisch gekocht. Unbedingt ausprobieren!

I find that it is very overpriced. The service was barely acceptable, not friendly at all and the food was average at most. I found that the quality of the food was basic and you can find better meals at smaller simpler sodas (small restaurants) for half the price. Also found it weird that the vegetarian and vegan options are more expensive than the other options with some kind of meat. A day after eating there all of us in my group got bad diarrhea, so not much...

Looking for authentic local cuisine? This is the place to go. After a full morning of hiking near Rincon de la Vieja volcano this stop for a lunch was an excellent choice. The food was outstanding and the service was great. Eric is a gracious and personable host. My wife and I are here for two months escaping the harsh Chicago winter and rest assured we will be frequenting this great establishment several times in the weeks to come....
