Aki Mis Tacos — Restaurant in El Roble

3 reviews from our family were deleted so now I know how this place has so many high reviews! We (a group of 11) came in on Saturday night at 7, it was raining and the place looked dark but the owner let us know he could clean up some tables and started turning lights and the grill on. He then let us know he had no meat pretty much, no birria, no chicken, but he had asada and pork. We should have left then but we were intrigued by all the good reviews. The woman helping was the unfriendliest person, we speak Spanish so we were asking about the menu as it has no descriptions, her responses did not help at all in deciding, instead she looked annoyed and irritated. Mostly everyone ordered asada tacos, I ordered chilaquiles verdes and we ordered tacos dorados for the kids. The asada tacos didn’t even look like beef, it looked like pork and didn’t taste like asada…? A family of 4 came in while the owner ( the only cook) was cooking our food but since they seemed to know each other he stopped cooking our food to attend to them, the family of 4 finished eating while we still hadn’t received our entire order. My chilaquiles were cold, like the beans and salsa poured over the chips were straight out of the fridge cold. The kids taquitos were filled halfway inside the tortilla. I don’t say this lightly: Aki Mid Tacos and Chef Príncipe Maya served me the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life—and I’ve had a lot of tacos.

From the very first bite, I could taste the heart, soul, and tradition poured into each taco. The flavors were perfectly balanced, bold, and deeply satisfying—pure culinary magic. Every ingredient was fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the tortillas? Absolute perfection.

But what truly set this experience apart was the incredible hospitality. Chef Príncipe Maya and the entire team made me feel so welcomed, like I was a guest in their home. Their kindness and generosity created an atmosphere that was warm, genuine, and unforgettable.

The customer service was beyond excellent. They went out of their way to accommodate every request, no matter how small. It’s rare to find a place that delivers such top-tier food and treats you like family.

This place is the definition of a hole in the wall. If you think you are in the wrong area, you are probably in the right place. However, the food is unbelievable! When we got there, the chef and owner of the establishment, personally showed us his awards as a chef and his diplomas. He then proceeded to give us chips and a variety of around 6 different salsas that were all, as the kids say these days, gas.

As we were absolutely housing our chips and salsa, he cooked 50 tacos for the whole group that were the best tacos I have personally ever had. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was lit.
