Cantina El Zarpe — Restaurant in Jacó

We stopped here for a lunch after getting gas at the station next door. It was spur of the moment, but I had heard how good the food was. Well, we were not disappointed! Let's start with the food...wow! My husband and I got the birra tacos. They were double wrapped with cheese between two tortillas and stuffed with wonderful pork! To give the tacos an extra texture, they added a few pieces of bacon for crunch. I have had a lot of tacos in my life, and these are arguably the best I've EVER had! WOW! We complimented the server and they told us that the chef is trained in Mexico. Secondly the service.....our waiter was wonderful and extremely attentive! From the moment we arrived he sat us and made sure our drinks stayed full and table clean. And our food came out within 15 minutes. Wonderful for those traveling through and want a good FAST bite to eat. Lastly was the ambiance.....the location is right on the highway and it is pretty noisy. This actually is the sole reason I haven't been before. BUT the music is so much fun! Think a mix of EDM and Reggaeton. And the staff is great! If you are driving through on the highway, THIS is the place to stop!!! If you are wanting the BEST tacos. THIS is the place to stop!! If you are in a hurry. THIS is the place to stop!! If you want to sit and enjoy the music and have great service. THIS is the place to stop!!

The food was fantastic, service was spectacular. We love to travel and find local food spots. We're so glad we found this gem, definitely in our top restaurants.

Our family had quite a few dishes and all of them were so delicious. Birria tacos, birria quesadillas, birria chimichangas, mahi mahi tacos, ChifriZapre, and BBQ and Mango Chili wings.... all SO good. The standouts were the mango chili wings and birria dishes.

Hector, the owner, was super friendly and kind and gave advice for the places we mentioned we were going to visit during our week...

We love it there. It's always our first stop when we come to Jaco. They work very hard at finding the exact football game that we wanted to watch and got it for us. It wasn't easy but they got it done. Meanwhile, the food is awesome and the fish tacos are amazing, as are the quesadillas and ceviche. But if you want to watch it specific game, they probably have a dozen TVs and they're willing to find out whatever game you...
