I wanted to buy several packs of Geisha coffee beans as gifts for my family and friends back home.
After a few searches online, I visited Arabigos Coffee House in La Fortuna on 22 June 2024 at approximately 4 PM. I went straight to the coffee section, so I could ask about Geisha coffee; and talked to Michael (this was the name given to me).
The first thing I noticed was that Michael was busy on the computer monitor. Everytime I would ask a question, he would hurriedly answer without looking at me. His eyes were peeled on the computer; and his fingers were busy clicking on the mouse.
He initially advised me to order at the restaurant section; but when I clarified why I could not order coffee from him, he said he would only entertain hot drinks orders.
I said I wanted to order Geisha coffee (a hot drink); and asked which method is better between V60 and Chemex for this type of coffee. I could not understand his answer because he was "busy" with his computer.
After 7-10 minutes of talking to Michael, he would consistently give short answers, was in a hurry, and would not look at me.
I then asked him, "Are you playing video games while a customer is trying to order coffee?"
Michael answered, "No. I'm doing my assignment/homework." He continued to respond without looking at me.
I believed he was playing video games. Even after I called him out, his attention was still on the computer. Besides, his job at that time was to attend to his customers' orders; and he failed to do his job.
I decided to go to another coffee shop a few blocks away; and bought Geisha coffee beans somewhere else.
Please remind Michael to focus on his job; and to never play video games, or do his 'homework' while a customer wants to order coffee/drinks.
PS Michael understands and speaks English; so the "non-English speaker" card is...

Read moreWe came here for breakfast around 9am on a weekday and there were only 2 other tables so we were sat immediately. Service was a bit slower than expected to get our food. The staff was not overly friendly and had a little difficultly with speaking English. The espresso machine was down. They make coffee with a selection of 4 different blends in 6 different brew methods. They didn't taste very different by brew method but the blend that cost an extra 500 colons did taste better to me. The type of brunch dishes were more Americanized than your typical Costa Rican options. I really enjoyed my meal which consisted of their French toast - two cinnamon-forward slices with a spread of bananas and strawberries. I wish they had sliced off the ends of the strawberries before using them as garnish. Definitely more picturesque included though. Caprese panini- the sour dough bread was soft and the pesto spread was delicious. I liked the touch of prosciutto. The homemade thinly sliced chips were a bit lackluster as they did not have a crunch...
