Restaurante Ross — Restaurant in Peñas Blancas

We had a great experience last night with Omel our server. My wife was exhausted and is gluten free. He did an amazing job of walking us through the menu on what was possible for her to eat, looking at any sauces to make sure they were gluten free etc. This morning she feels fine, so if you’re gluten free or sensitive this is worth checking out. Dinner including 2 great cocktails and a nice tip to thank Omel for his wonderful help was right at 38 dollars. One bummer about the place is it’s located right off the main road in the area so it was loud as people would cross a small bridge then accelerate up the hill, but given the wonderful care and service that really didn’t matter much. We took our food to go and enjoyed some great drinks there including the mojitos. We had stopped at Lara’s Food before that as it was recommended but they couldn’t guarantee anything would be...

We stopped in after our flight to SJO and then drive to our AirBnb. Firstly, they have a nice, clean, dining area that over looks the stream. The staff were super nice and even set up a small table and got some coloring books for our 3 year old daughter. That was totally not expected but very thoughtful.

In terms of the food, we had a traditional dish with rice, beans, salad, plantain, and grilled beef. It was very tasty and a nice mix of several complementary dishes. We also had the ceviche. It was fresh, firm, and a good balance of flavors.

Lastly we had a few cold beers that washed down the great food and really helped kick off the relaxing trip.

If we are back in the area, we will definitely stop by and try more of the menu. Thank you for making us feel...

My husband, our 3.5-year-old, and I just returned home from our first trip to Costa Rica. Restaurant Ross (or as we lovingly have been referring to it “Rossterant”) was a true gem and one of our stand-out highlights. The open-air dining area had a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The food is some of the best we had anywhere in our travels. The fresh seafood was incredible, and my husband raved about the traditional casado. The staff was incredibly welcoming, even taking the time to engage with our 3.5-year-old. We loved it so much that we visited twice. Restaurant Ross is a must-visit for anyone traveling to La Fortuna (more specifically Chachagua) Costa Rica seeking delicious food and exceptional service. 10/10...
