Sooooooo GORG!!!! TOTALLY worth the visit ESPECIALLY if you're a fan of starbucks!!! Can't believe we waited until now to visit when we've been here almost a month. Had I known about this GEM, we would've been here EVERY chance we had!!! The view is breathtaking. The food is fresh & yummy w good portions. Lots of options w pretty fast service. Drinks r STARBUCKS!!! Need I say more!?!??! Staff and Service are so polite & attentive. The vibe is so genial, laid-back.... like a Sunday brunch among6 friends. It's outside w a roof/canopy overhead. so not as much risk of Covid exposure. We werent rushed out which was sooo nice because we got to spend hours lunching, drinking coffee, buying merchandise, and taking tons & TONS of photos!!! My only complaints are... 1) The merchandise says, "Made in China." I would've expected a conscientious company like Starbucks to source such goods locally, especially for a farm/project dedicated to the land...at least from a Latin country nearby...why alllll the way from CHINA!?!? Harnessing local talent and/or providing them an opportunity to shine & grow financially seems the responsible thing to do in my opinion. Although I've read complaints about Starbucks utilizing this farm for publicity & profit, it does seem like their presence in the middle of nowhere has driven business, and thereby jobs, to the area. That is always a plus in my eyes. 2)We did not do the coffee tour. I have a disability that does not permit me to walk up or down uneven surfaces like ramps. When I asked about attending the tour & whether inclines/ramps would be on the tour, I was told a simple yes to there being inclines, and no accommodation whatsoever to even try to do part of the tour. I had been soooo excited to hear the story amd background of the farm amd partnership with Starbucks. My daughter amd I are avid fans and when we learned about the farm, we had to visit before returning to the US. To have come so far and possibly not have another opportunity to visit the farm before we leave, it was very disappointing to not be given a chance to at least hear a part of the history and science behind the farm. My daughter would not go without me, so we both missed out on that experience. I urge training for staff to accommodate the needs of those with disabilities like mine. While I may not have been able to walk up and down hills/inclines, there were sections if the tour and farm that were in even ground which I could have participated with. The staff should be taught to adapt accordingly under such circumstances to ensure fairness and equal access for all. 3) The place closes at 6pm. I think it'd be a nice venue for evening affairs with some nice lighting. It'd also be really cool if Starbucks would host an Artist meet & greet every month or so to get the local community involved and give a voice to local artists ir farmers in hopes of helping them grow their business and earning income to match alllll the business Starbucks attracts... maybe host local farmers market w farmers explaining what it takes to run a farm. Or providing the food Starbucks sells so farm to table.. 4)There is very little signage on the way to the farm. We thought we had gone too far several times. Def add signage!!! All in all, it was a FANTASTIC day at the farm spending time w my daughter. I am soooo grateful for today. I wish every day was THIS GOOD!!!!

**A Romantic Retreat at Hacienda Alsacia Starbucks Farm** My experience at Hacienda Alsacia, the Starbucks coffee farm, was nothing short of enchanting, especially enjoying it with my wife. Nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Costa Rica, this farm is not just a coffee plantation but a haven for coffee enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene beauty of the surroundings. Rolling hills adorned with coffee trees stretched as far as the eye could see, creating a picturesque backdrop for our visit. The farm's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship was evident in every aspect, from the organic farming practices to the conservation efforts that preserve the local ecosystem. Exploring the farm was a delightful adventure. We took a guided tour that led us through the entire coffee-making process, from seedling to steaming cup. Learning about the meticulous care and craftsmanship that goes into producing Starbucks coffee was not only informative but also deeply inspiring. One of the highlights of our visit was the coffee tasting experience. Sipping freshly brewed Starbucks Reserve coffees in the midst of their origin was an unparalleled treat for our senses. The flavors were rich and nuanced, showcasing the distinct characteristics of each bean variety grown on the farm. What truly made our visit unforgettable, though, was the opportunity to connect with each other in such a serene and beautiful setting. We wandered through the plantation hand in hand, marveling at the sights and sounds around us. The peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking scenery provided the perfect backdrop for moments of quiet reflection and shared joy. In conclusion, our time at Hacienda Alsacia Starbucks Farm was an experience we will cherish forever. It's not just a place to enjoy world-class coffee; it's a sanctuary where nature, sustainability, and love come together harmoniously. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply seeking a romantic getaway, Hacienda Alsacia promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of coffee culture.

For the price, I expected a hands on tour (I get it wasn't the season to pick, but still something fun to do would've been nice) I also expected to leave with a free bag of coffee and a full cup of coffee. Instead it was just a short walk around the main area (they have 300 acres of land) being informed about why Starbucks has this farm and learning how coffee pickers don't get paid very well and it is a very labour intensive job for little money. Of course Starbucks being Starbucks, they just go with the flow of how the area pays coffee pickers instead of being able to use their power and pay their staff proper wages. The guide was nice but she was speaking very fast and you could tell she didn't want to do the tour. It was just me and another person. At the end of the tour you get a small carafe of coffee that tastes like any other coffee you'd get from Starbucks and told to "slurp for the flavor" and then told okay, that's it. Now go shop at the very over priced shop. We then ordered food and additional coffee since we didn't get anything else. Food was mid, it was gallo pinto with egg. The egg was like any other Starbucks egg, made to heat and not fresh. Pinto was dry and unflavored. The cold brew tasted the same as you get at any location. So in the end, nothing was really special but the place was beautiful and the views were nice.

This was by far one of my highlights during my trip to Costa Rica. I've taken tours of coffee farms before so I already knew the process. However, I really enjoyed learning about how this is actually a research and development center and what Starbucks does in every country to help local farmers. We had an amazing guide who answered all our questions and we even had a small activity where we handpicked coffee beans. It was all fun and interesting. After the tour there was a coffee tasting of different brews which was also enlightening. Additionally, the coffee shop is simply astounding. The beverage and food options are all incredible, and with the view of the coffee fields, well it's all just a coffee paradise. I bought some of their coffee beans home and the taste was absolutely rich and aromatic. Highly recommended for coffee and Starbucks fans. You can find their tour schedules online depending on the language you'd prefer, and if you arrive early and there is an opening in an earlier one you have the option to join in. Since it is not near the city, I would recommend either renting a car or taking a taxi. You can also take an uber but finding one to get back won't be easy as there aren't many around. I didn't rent a car, so I paid a taxi for a day who took me there, waited, then brought me back to Alajuela.
