Casa Vieja — Restaurant in San Pablo

We found this bakery on the InCostaRica mobile app and it has become one of our favorite places for a quick grab and go breakfast. They have salty and sweet treats that range from cheese filled baked goods, to a variety of baguettes as well as some absolutely gorgeous desserts. The bakery is cheap too, we have always felt that we received a great value. While we have had breakfast there a few times, typically it is quite busy on the weekend mornings. The staff does a great job of managing the line of customers, some of our favorites include. Carne en llamas, pan pizza, and arrollados de queso & carne. In addition to coffee and juices this bakery has a full menu of traditional style breakfasts that include Gallo Pinto with all of the typical accompaniments. The setting is a traditional home with large display cases that perfectly show every item that is available. The baked goods are sorted and grouped between sweeter items, items with cheese and ham, and breads with just about every type of ingrediente you can fathom incorporated. We will definitely be back, and would certainly encourage others to give this bakery a try. Let’s just hope with their popularity that the prices stay at the same level and the great value. We would love to see them open up...

Buenos días! No soy de ponerme a escribir acerca de las experiencias en los lugares que visito. Pero considero importante hacerlo en esta ocasión. Este comentario va a ser útil para quien ande en busca de un delicioso queque de calidad para un ser amado, especial, importante para usted, para que no cometa el mismo error que cometimos. Con un mes de antelación solicitamos un queque para nuestra mamá en su cumpleaños número 70, mi hermana nos recomendó este lugar ya que para su matrimomio ya hace 5 años de eso, lo solicitaron acá y estaba muy rico el queque, entonces mi otra hermana y yo estuvimos de acuerdo, abrimos un chat entre nosotras para decidir todos los sabores y el diseño para el queque, llego el día especial para nostros, mi hermana lo recogió, mi cuñado bromeo diciendo "para lo que costó este queque ₡31000 tiene que estar super delicioso, el diseño del queque esta bonito" no les quedo tal como la imagen que les compartimos para el diseño del queque pero lo dejamos pasar, como es un queque, la sorpresa se la lleva uno al partirlo, aquí vino la sorpresa, no fue el queque que pedimos, lo pedimos con sabor a arándanos y nos entregaron sabor vainilla, el lustre se sentía super grasoso en el paladar, en los labios, el pancito del queque super dulce se les paso la cantidad de azúcar, mi mamá quien fue quien lo repartió quedó con los dedos manchados de rojo, rojo que estaba en el lustre, mi hermana inmediatamente reclamo en el chat, porque de la misma tristeza uno ocupa desahogarse después de esa injusticia, yo no me pude comer toda mi porción porque me empecé a sentir mal del estómago, la tristeza fue por mi mamá porque le quisimos dar lo mejor y casa vieja nos quedo malísimo, esto le sirve a aquellas personas que lean esto y lo tomen en cuenta si así lo desean, esta fue nuestra experiencia, me siento en la responsabilidad de compartirla para quien le sirva, para nosotros hay un antes y un después con esto que nos pasó con el queque, yo le decía a mi mamá este no era el queque ma, lo sentimos mucho, esto no fue lo que pedimos, de mi parte estoy en deuda con mi mamá en regalarle un queque de calidad y hecho con amor, compartiré una de las fotos que tomamos en su momento, eramos 10 comensales por ello el queque se ve partido ya casi...

Ordered breads/pastries from Uber Eats and highly recommend this bakery! Garlic knots are well made and were soft and warm when they arrived. Their Pan de Ron con Pasas reminds me of Caribbean sweet bread! Their brownies are OMG!

The location itself consist of the bakery, a typical seating area and the hidden gem - a modern cabana style restaurant with outdoor covered couch seating.
