Sugoi Mexican and Asian Restaurant — Restaurant in Sardinal

Overpriced, wannabe fancy food made for gringos. We came here because of the rave reviews but were disappointed. The flavors were off and despite having a million elements on the plate, everything was underseasoned. Or maybe just underwhelming. The tuna Tacos with caramelized pineapple were odd... no citrus or tangy element to offset the tuna. The carnitas taco were bland, the meat had not been seasoned at all, and whatever sauce they cooked the meat in did not come through. Then, the octopus taco went completely the other way, there was so much garlic that you could not taste anything else. I pulled out a whole clove of garlic from one taco. And every taco was topped with a pile of sliced red onions for some reason.

I will note that the famous Johnny was a nice server but he insisted on speaking in English with us for some reason, although we are SP speakers and addressed him only in Spanish.

I know people love this place, maybe because of the location at a fancy resort, but I have to believe there are better options in...

I had fish tacos and they were good. Two people had Pad Thai. A few issues with that. First and foremost, they served the shrimp tails on in the dish. Green beans, while strange for Pad Thai, were ruined because the ends of the beans had nor been trimmed. So lazy chef! Pad Thsi had no "Thai" taste.also hand California rolls and they were good. Lastly, it is CR law that the tax and tio, 23% combined be included in the price. They have a hard to see sneaky note saying it is not included. So buyer beware, add 23% to the price. All in all, not the worst,...

Having stumbled across this gem online, we drove 45 minutes to find it and almost turned around when pulling into the parking lot and finding we were the only ones there... but we chocked it up to COVID and decide to brave it... and boy are we glad we did!! The food was beyond excellent with a fantastic flavor palette and unique combinations that exceeded expectations, the atmosphere was quiet, charming and romantic and the service was the best we’ve found in Costa Rica so far!!
