Taco Rosado – A Must-Visit Breakfast Spot in Playa del Coco
During our stay in Playa del Coco, we had breakfast at Taco Rosado twice—and we would have gone back for more if we’d had the time! This charming café is small, with just 7 or 8 tables and a cozy four-seat bar, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in flavor and atmosphere.
Owners Bret and Gloria have created a warm, family-friendly space decorated with tasteful, welcoming touches. Their fantastic breakfast menu features dishes made fresh daily, and they even source and cure their own bacon and sausage.
The standout dish? The churro French toast—absolutely out of this world. Made with their custom brioche bread, rolled in corn flakes, and served with both delicious syrup and an irresistible coconut sauce, it’s a must-try. I also loved their take on huevos rancheros, served on crispy fried tortillas with eggs any style, bacon or chorizo, beans, and avocado. And let’s not forget the top-shelf coffee, offered in a variety of styles.
Taco Rosado serves the best breakfast I’ve had on three continents. We even grabbed 500 grams of their house-cured bacon to make BLT sandwiches for the beach! If you're in Playa del Coco, don’t miss...

And then — the trainee. It was literally her first day on the job. You’d expect nerves, maybe a little hesitation. Instead, she served my tacos with the precision of a Michelin-star chef and the smile of someone who just brought peace to the Middle East. By the time she placed the margarita in front of me, the entire restaurant stood up and applauded.
The tacos were so good my grandmother (who passed away in 1998) appeared at the table just to tell me, “Eat more of this.” The margarita? So fresh it tasted like it was squeezed straight from a cloud.

Read moreWe came here two days ago for breakfast and I had their pork belly breakfast burrito because it's absolutely my favorite way to eat breakfast. I now have a new favorite breakfast burrito 🌯! I got it with the rice and beans (gallo pinto) instead of potatoes. I also got an iced mocha. So good! Too bad I live in the US. 🫤
So today we came back again for Taco Tuesday and the tacos were delicious too. I got chicken on floor tortillas while my wife got carnitas with cabbage on corn. Her's kinda fell apart but were still very good. We also got $2 margaritas which were potent for their size.
Finally the service was wonderful and the vibe is...
