What an experience. Diego who runs the joint was incredibly gracious and kind and personable. He went out of his way to block the beating sun so we could all sit at the bar, he made us feel VERY welcome and comfortable. My wife and I had the BEST Pina Coladas made by Diego himself. Our youngest ordered the cheese quesadilla and loved them, especially with the house made red chili pepper sauce (it was so good). We got the Fundita (amazing), and Chicken and Fish tacos. Omg yes! The tacos were fantastic!!! We were there for lunch and got there they were still making the Al Pastor. We started with the guacamole appetizer and then got the chorizo and carne tacos. Everything was so tasty! The guacamole was a true guacamole! The salsas were flavorful too. The tortillas for the tacos did not disappoint. We got the black beans on the tortillas for both tacos. On the way to Jaco I asked the driver where to eat and he quickly said Taquiera Chanchito for THE BEST TACOS, and of course I always listen to locals. We went and the tacos were amazing, but so was the staff and the atmosphere. We got a mix of tacos: Birria, chicken, chorizo, fish, and al pastor and licked the plates clean. When asked, get the black beans on your tacos…trust me here! I would review every taco, but I’d run out of characters. Go! Get off the beaten path of Jaco proper and visit this spot.
