Roots restaurant — Restaurant in Tamarindo

We ordered beef nachos, brisket pita, chicken pita, coconut shrimp and a burger. The beef on the nachos was dry stale and no flavour, the chicken in the pita tasted bland, dry and stale, the shrimp was spoiled and I spat it out because it tasted like ammonia. I sent it back and I said I didn’t want anything else because it took an hour to get our food initially and everyone else was finished eating. He insisted it would be quick. So I ordered the falafel, waited another 25 minutes and we paid and walked out before it arrived. Terrible service, terrible poor quality food, bad flavour, their signiature pineapple coconut drink was gross too. The food all over this country is incredible, fresh and made with love. This was $25… what a joke. The chicken has no seasoning, it was dry freezer burnt and looks more like naked chicken fingers. The carrots look like they were rolled through the dirt. The Cauliflower risotto with curry is not at all as advertised, it’s simply cauliflower and curry… there is no risotto whatsoever. I live in Hacienda Pinilla and this will be the third and last time I’ll ever eat there… nothing but a dogs dinner. Their menu is extremely overpriced and this restaurant doesn’t deserve to be situated at this location… there is nothing about fine dining there. See the photo for yourself. I over heard it’s $25 per person to make a reservation like as if it’s gonna to be a culinary experience… I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS...

The food was straight up terrible. Chicken in the chicken pita was so old, basically inedible. Not excusable for the prices and especially in a country like Costa Rica, where fresh chicken is not at all that hard to come by. 2 stars instead of 1 because the waiter was nice and also the drinks...
