Bohemia Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Tempate

By far the most expensive meal we had in Costa Rica. We were offered items off the menu and then charged whatever they felt like charging. I was told the ceviche was “dorado” “crunchy” he said but when it was brought out it was not. The fish was soggy and cooked with lime. Fine we ate it, didn’t complain. I speak Spanish and somehow there was still a lot lost in translation. They brought two orders of the same exact thing out, spring rolls. She had asked if I wanted two I asked, how do they come? She said two on one plate cut into four and I said, oh just bring me those two on a plate. She put in for 2 orders. It was only my husband and I with two small children under 6. We ended up having to shove all the food down our throats, because when I sent it back the lady who took the order came back very combative. I was really uncomfortable the rest of the meal. The treatment was awful, so much so she couldn’t make eye contact, nor finish the service, she sent another lady over and in the end couldn’t thank me for swindling me. She knew what she did. Lastly we ordered the teriyaki tuna, she asked how we wanted it cooked, I said “bien hecho”, because if it wasn’t well done my daughter wouldn’t eat it. Well when it came it was so red, she didn’t eat it. By then I felt I wasn’t going to be allowed to complain since I wanted my food to remain sanitary. I would not recommend this place, simply because you don’t get what you order, it won’t work out if you have a picky eater. Also if you like full transparency this place is not for you because your prices will vary off the menu. What a wonderful surprise our visit to Bohemia Restaurant was! We thought the restaurant looked cool from the road so it was dinner time and we were hungry, we pulled in. We were met by a smiling hostess who seated us and immediately brought a free appetizer of chips and refried black beans that were delicious. I ordered a strawberry dacari at a super reasonable price from the table tent. It arrived with glasses of wonderful water from a pitcher with fruits added, so good!. The menu all looked great so it was hard to choose but I settled on a grilled chicken dish that was served with an incredible white creamy sauce with sauteed vegetables on top. The plate also had white rice and a fabulous salad that was chopped very fine. It was served steamy hot and the presentation, portion sizes, and flavor were superb. You could tell that each dish was made individually and with great pride and love.

My wife had a shrimp Teriyaki dish that was served with awesome mashed potatoes and a salad. Again large portions and fabulous tastes. The chef checked on us after the meal which was a nice touch. I had an amazing experience at Bohemia restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left me feeling satisfied and happy. I especially loved the curry shrimp - it was cooked to perfection and the flavors were incredible. The breaded fish filet was also a standout, with a juicy interior and a crispy exterior that was simply mouthwatering. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through in every dish.

But it wasn't just the food that impressed me - the staff at Bohemia were incredibly attentive and cordial. From the moment I arrived, they made me feel welcome and took great care of me throughout my meal. I also appreciated the music selection - it created a wonderful ambiance that enhanced my dining experience.

Lastly, I have to mention the watermelon smoothie - it was hands down the best one I've had in the entire Tamarindo area. I could taste the freshness of the fruit in every sip, and it was the perfect complement to my meal.
