Konoba Knez is a really nice family restaurant and you’ll notice this right away. On the first look maybe not the first choice for tourist but if you dare to look a little further just outside of the city you’ll end up in this lovely restaurant. They welcome you and are passionated about there restaurant. They’ll show you the home made liquors the’ve made and let you try as Many as you like. With this comes fruits to neutralize the taste. They give you a starter plate which include a variety of (homemade) meat and cheese. Very tasty! Apart from that they give you (homemade) big fresh tomatoes and Bread.

All the food is fresh from their own region and the food is made by hand. This is something you can tast from the start. The tomatoes and fruits were incredible. They show you the meat the’ve got and let you choose whatever you like. Next they prepare it in a big oven, you can all see and follow this proces which is cool. The meat was very tasty and was served with french Fries and mixed salad. They handle you with love, care and have a lot of attention for you as a customer. They tell you story’s about the restaurant and their product.

You’ll dining among the locals that Come to this restaurant and have a great time. In the end they have their self made desserts which are nice, unfortunately we were filled up by all the food we already had.

While going to another restaurant the other night the cab driver gave us a tip about Konoba Knez, if you like the really good meat and pure products all home made. That sounds great! We made a reservation 1 day ahead cause you also have to tell them what kind of Menu you like so they can prepare the beautiful products. We arrived and after a warm welcome we started of with fresh figs and a choice of different home made liqueurs , grappas and local 40% herb liqueur. After this a beautiful plate with different cheeses and hams etc arrived , all with a glass of home made white wine and Ofcourse olive oil from their own lands. Then as main course you can choose from all kinds of steaks prepared on an open bbq . Best meat ever! And their red wine was also delicious! We had to take some left overs to the hotel ( lunch). We tried to call the restaurant for a reservation, without succes. However within 5 minutes they have returned my call. Hereby is was also explained how the menu works (BBQ/traditional) and if we want to have traditional we had to order it. You know that the place will be great if they take good care of the products and everything is made fresh on a daily basis. Having said that, I knew that the experience would be great.

Upon arrival they have welcomes us really warm with a welcome gesture in the vorm of a liquor. We had chosen for the BBQ menu so subsequently we got charcuterie. After that we had the option to choose our meats based upon selection. Of course with the selection was included fries and salads. For us the food was really rich hence too much. Nevertheless the quality of the meat was impeccable. Hearing the stories how they treat meat and produce the meat is inspiring.
