The moment we stepped into Tavern Arka, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff immediately made us feel welcome, especially considering we were dining with our two young children. They went above and beyond to ensure our little ones were comfortable, providing high chairs and even offering some entertaining activities to keep them engaged throughout the meal. Read moreAmazing food and excellent service! We started with the prosciutto and cheese platter to share and in all my experience, I believe it is the best prosciutto I have ever had! The cut was a little thicker than normal but the flavour was so intense, I felt like the meat just melted in your mouth and the fat felt like there were crystallised salt granules imbedded. According to the waiter, they procure it from someone who made it themselves and even he said it is the best he has ever had!
Our main meal was the 1kg fresh white fish which we were able to choose from a limited selection (they were sold out of all others since we arrive late in the evening). They grilled it to perfection with the meat nicely tender throughout. I don’t normally eat the skin but since it was crispy and not burnt, I had to try it. It was absolutely delicious.
As for the service, they went above and beyond the norm. They offered complementary mosquito repellent which I really appreciate as I am super reactive to bites. The wine suggestion fitted nicely with the fish and the waiter expertly deboned the fish next to us. At the end of the meal, they offered us some complementary drinks and even offered to a lift to the hotel since they realised we walked to their restaurant. We thanked them but declined since we were staying only 10 minutes away.
The only drawback is the difficulty in finding a restaurant rivalling this...
Read moreVisited here whilst staying in the area. We booked a table for 6pm arrived slightly before and were shown straight away to our table with a fabulous view over the water. Our waiter Joco was attentive and explained the menu to us with some recommendations, we took his advice and were not disappointed, we had baked oysters ( freshly caught today) and a sharing platter consisting of prosciutto, two different cheeses, stuffed peppers, olives and some huge caper berry’s. Served with fresh warm bread. To follow we were recommended St Peter’s fish, I’d never heard of this but the recommendation was so good, it was hard to say no……. Baring in mind I’m not a fish lover…. We were not disappointed it came with a broccoli puree and mussel sauce….. the fish was white flaky with a lovely soft texture, a thumbs up from me…… the wine we were recommended was a local croation Posip, again a lovely recommendation. After a short break between courses I again went with the desert recommendation, now this was a strawberry pavlova, but as I have a strawberry allergy an alternative with orange and blueberry was served. It was perfect light and creamy to end the evening….. the setting whilst over a main road was perfect with a lovely view over the water we enjoyed our second bottle of wine and enjoyed the tranquility of the moment of your in the area it’s a must to visit! Thank you to Joco and team for a...
