I enjoyed sitting outside with a nice view of the sea (Cafe 21 and Katarina Restaurant share an outside seating area). I have been here many times with friends for coffee at Cafe 21. Our server (from Cafe 21) was wonderful: fast, friendly, attentive. This time my wife and I decided to order food from Katerina. I ordered the breakfast menu item: "Bacon, Sausages, Baked Beans, and Eggs" (see photo of menu item). Unfortunately, what I received was well below expectations judging from all of the 5 star reviews that are listed for this restaurant. The portion size was smaller than expected. There were NO strips of "Bacon" only tiny pieces of fat (see photo). The "Sausages" (listed as plural... more than one) was actually just one single "Hot Dog" style Sausage that was cut into 8 small pieces. The "Eggs" (listed as plural... more than one) was just one single small egg (see photos). The "Baked Beans" were acceptable but nothing special. Overall the meal had good flavor. It reminded me of the cheap meals (out of a can) that I would cook on Boy Scout camping trips when I was 12 years old. But I had expected more from "Restoran Katerina." The price of 10 euros was reasonable considering the touristy location next to the Marina. My wife ordered spaghetti. Her food was nothing special. Actually, she said it was slightly undercooked but acceptable. Neither of us were impressed considering the hype of reviews we saw on Google Maps. The restaurant should change the menu to accurately reflect what is served. The menu is just writing with no pictures so it's difficult to know what to expect. One of the two website links to: "gurman-restorani.com" for their menu does not work. The one link that does work only shows text of the menu items.... same as the printed menu on the table. Also, less than 24 hours later I experienced lots of diarrhea and some stomach issues. Judging by the smell of the diarrhea.... it was definitely from my breakfast here at Katerina (there is no doubt). I am hoping this was just a bad day at this restaurant. I will try this place again and a different menu item. Hopefully they will impress me in the future. But based on my only experience so far, I can not...
Read moreWe keep our boat in this marina, but unfortunately this was our last visit to this restaurant. Our charter crew – a group of 10 people – was treated in a very unpleasant and unprofessional way by the waitress who served our table.
It all started with her attitude: she told us right away that we should not ask questions about the menu, that she would “remember everything” and we should just order without discussing details. As a result, she completely forgot our appetizers – which later still appeared on the bill. Only after we complained and insisted did she agree to remove them, since she had never served them.
The situation became even worse when the main dishes arrived. The entire group was served without cutlery. When we pointed this out politely, the waitress replied that “if we don’t like it, we can just leave.” Such a response to paying customers is absolutely unacceptable. We had no choice but to firmly tell her, in front of the other guests and the rest of the staff, that she should simply do her job properly – just like each of us does in our own work – and that would be the best for everyone.
Unfortunately, the food itself did not improve the experience. We ordered three portions of the same dish, and what we received were three completely different meals. One plate was nothing but skin and bones, the second plate was again mostly bones to gnaw on, and only the third dish resembled proper lamb, which is what we had expected. When you charge €20 per portion, the dish should be worth €20, not be another reason for disappointment with your restaurant.
To summarize: the service was rude and unprofessional, the food quality was inconsistent and in parts unacceptable, and the entire experience left our group with a very negative impression. This was, without any doubt, our last visit to this restaurant.
The stake house nearby has never put us in a situation like this. The...
