Restaurante Brasserie 255 — Restaurant in Cuba

We have been traveling with a group all week. It’s been very nice but the group dinners are all at places full of tourists. We found this magical oasis away from all the tourists and we were so thrilled for the break.

Brasserie 255 is inside the cutest boutique hotel (Voya). It’s this gorgeous old mansion that has been beautifully restored. When you make a reservation, ask if the garden bar will be open. If so, go early for a drink in the lovely gardens behind the hotel.

The staff was so friendly and communicated with us easily in English. All the food was delicious but DO NOT SKIP the bread. They bake it in house, it comes out piping hot and is delicious! The “eggplant mayo” it came with was essentially babaganoush and was also so good.

We got the ceviche (excellent), the tuna tatake (good), the risotto (great) and the potato au gratin (great). For dessert we had the baked Alaska (called something else locally) and it was very good but the four of us couldn’t finish it.

Un excellent restaurant tant au niveau de la cuisine que du service. Il y a la fois de la cuisine cubaine revisitee et des plats plus européens. Les boissons sont également très bonnes. Le personnel est agréable et au petit soin, un sans faute ! Il se situe dans un boutique hôtel (que je recommande également) et dispose d’une terrasse ombragée très agréable. Le petit déjeuner y est également délicieux et copieux. Un des meilleurs restaurants que nous ayons fait à Cuba !
