From Amazement to Disappointment: A Story of Two Visits

The first time we visited this restaurant, we were absolutely amazed. The food, the service — everything was simply outstanding. I can’t even remember if I left a review back then, but it was truly an unforgettable experience in the best sense.

This time, however, was the complete opposite.

To be fair, the food was still decent — just decent. It wasn’t bad, but it certainly didn’t have the “wow” factor that left us so impressed the first time.

The real issue was the service. I asked to have the child’s meal brought out first, then some starters for the adults, and mentioned that we would place the rest of the order later. The waiter warned me that the next order must be placed all at once, otherwise there would be “problems.” It was strange, but considering it was late and we didn’t have many alternatives, I agreed just to avoid any issues.

When the food started arriving, it came in shifts: First, one guest received their main course, then another, and only after the first two had finished eating did the third guest finally get theirs. We didn’t make a big deal out of it, trying to stay positive.

But the real low point came at the end. When we asked for the bill, a different waiter named Dimitris approached. He responded to my polite request for the card machine with unnecessary sarcasm. I ignored it, thinking maybe he was just tired.

However, while I was entering my PIN, Dimitris stood there staring directly at the machine — and proceeded to scratch his crotch right in front of me. I pointed this out to him, but he showed no sign of embarrassment or apology. Instead, another waiter came over later and apologized on his behalf, although it clearly wasn’t his responsibility.

In the end, the impression left was extremely unpleasant. A restaurant can have great food, but if the service makes guests feel uncomfortable or disrespected, no flavor can cover that...

DISAPPOINTED!! Upon our arrival everything seemed to be ok which all the experience turned negative for just one irretted, unwelcomed and unprofessional waiter (a Greek guy full of tattoo, upon asking his name he refuse to provide it).

We were 2 people and order 6 dishes, to try the variety and the quality of the restaurant. Prices do not represent the quality. Food was coming to the table cold.

Regarding the Greek waiter (with tattoos) he was really unprofessional because upon our first dish he asked how is it and we said is nothing special and he said I understand is not my favourite dish neither is dry from inside. 2. Dishes were arriving late we were finishing our 4 dish and came to tell us that we have 14min to eat the rest of the dishes which were still not served. For this type of restaurant is very unprofessional to push your guests to leave, I am paying high prices so at least I am allowed to eat my food without the waiter to be putting pressure to leave the table. He was arrogant, we said is impossible to finish 2 dishes in 14min and his respond was let's don't try to find excuses now so you have 14min to leave. When we asked the bill he came with a negative attitude, smashed the bill on the table (if you don't have emotional intelligence how guest shall be treated he shouldn't work in this industry) He started being arrogant shouting to us that we need to leave.

Very very disappointed from the unfriendly...

It was a beautifull place when it was called dipato, than, the owner changed and it become very dissapointed. We were celebrating our birthday on 25.07.23 last year, were very upset, service was below 0, we had to beg for our drinks waiters and were waiting for them for 40 minutes minumum, food was awfull, I do not know, how could someone eat it, prices are extremely expencive, but its another story indeed. Today, 21.07.24 at around 17:30, we were on the beach next by and decide to have a drink in the beautiful place. It was not a dinner not a lunch, and in case we liked something in the menue or something changed, we could eat something. We enter the place, it was almost emty, and the waiter asked if we will eat something, we answered that we were not sure, we will see later on, and the waiter said there are no place for us to seat, all full. Well, today is sunday, and there are no chances they could be full anyway, and it was not even a dinner time, so, we left extremely dissapointed. I have never seen absolutely empty restaurant, kicking the clients out. Anyway, we would never come again, however we live close by, and we often were coming when it was a different owner and different approach to business. I would come there again only if they will change it to the new owner, which I believe will happen soon, cause such behavior to the local clients are totally unacceptable. This is most problably the most negative review I ever...

Theta was a great find! It was our first day in Larnaca (Pervolia) and we needed some lunch. We wandered along the seafront until we came upon Theta. It is a beautiful bar and restaurant perfectly located with stunning views over the ocean. The staff were wonderful, very attentive and helpful with questions about the menu. First all came the bread, it came super fresh and hot with some olive oil and rosemary YUM! We ordered salads, houmous and crushed french fries'. The houmous was hot with coriander oil drizzled on top, not to my partner's taste but I liked it. The salads were delicious, possibly one of the best I've had, and I'm vegan so that's saying a lot as it's usually the only viable option! It was very green and had fresh apple, quinoa, nuts and seeds with a Balsamic dressing, the other half had a feta salad with loads of tomatoes, peppers, capers and red onion. The French fries were not french fries but super tasty seasoned little roast potatoes with the skins on. All the food was so good that we asked for a doggy bag for the left overs and demolished it for dinner later that day. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It is technically a fish Restaurant but lots of care and attention went into all the other dishes too.

The restaurant boasts a stunning view and its interior is truly amazing. However, I must admit that it's quite expensive, and unfortunately, the service and food didn't live up to the high price tag. Everything seemed to be going well until I received the main course: the so-called "dish of the day," which turned out to be a cone of tiny unpeeled shrimps priced at a hefty 17€. To my dismay, I spent a good 10 minutes struggling to peel these tiny shrimps, burning more calories than I probably gained from eating them. Frustrated, I decided to voice my concerns to the waiter, but I was met with disappointment yet again. The waiter neither removed the item from the bill nor offered a simple apology. As a result, I left the restaurant feeling hungry and let down. I can't give it less than 3 stars, though, because the breathtaking views are truly incomparable. It's a shame that the overall dining experience fell short of expectations despite the promising ambiance.

Expectations were way higher that the reality. Have seen this place in TikTok as a new mainstream “must visit” place in Larnaka. But the first thing is there was almost no one on Wednesday evening (around 20:30). Secondly, because of the humidity outside tables were wet, that made the whole place look bad… Thirdly, after mentioning that there were almost no one, the personnel managed to make a mistake in the order and prepare something completely different (calamari instead of fish) Fourthly, the sea bream in casserole had way too much lemon juice… I did not like the taste, but this is just my opinion. And finally, the whole place is a bit overpriced for Larnaca. There were also positive sides: - personnel was still quite attentive: they apologised for the confuse and changed the food quite quickly - risotto was good (friend ordered this one)
