A Hidden Gem of Cypriot Cuisine â A Must Before You Leave the Island (Ignore the 1-star review, this person is pure ignorant about food)
Whether youâre arriving in Cyprus or catching your flight home, do yourself a favorâmake time for one last unforgettable meal. Tucked away from the touristy spots, this little gem offers an authentic taste of Cyprus, lovingly crafted by the warmest couple youâll ever meet: Evangelis and Georgina.
I stumbled upon this place just before leaving the country, and Iâm so glad I did. It was exactly the experience I had been searching forâreal, soulful local cuisine served with heart. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, slow-cooked to perfection, and infused with flavors that only come from recipes passed down through generations.
What truly elevates the experience is the couple themselves. Evangelis and Georgina are more than just hostsâtheyâre storytellers, chefs, and ambassadors of Cypriot hospitality. They speak excellent English and take the time to walk you through each dish, crafting the perfect plate tailored to your tastes.
As we chatted and shared laughs over the meal, I realized this wasnât just about foodâit was about connection, culture, and the kind of genuine warmth that turns a meal into a memory.
Without a doubt, this place deserves every one of its 5-star reviews. And when I return to Cyprus, this will be...

Do you know that warm, comforting feeling of going to your grandparentsâ for Sunday dinner? Thatâs exactly how we felt visiting Acropolis, the traditional restaurant run by Evangelis and Georgina.
Their story is as beautiful as the food they serveâboth born in towns about 100km apart in Cyprus, they actually met in Australia and have now been running this place together for about 30 years. You feel their love and passion in everything they do.
Thereâs no waiter, no printed menuâbut donât worry. Georgina will warmly greet you, show you what theyâve prepared fresh that morning, and help you choose. The food? In one word: incredible. We had pork slow-cooked in wine with orzo, a village salad, lamb with rice and veggies, and okra. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the meat literally melted in our mouths.
This was hands down the best food Iâve had on the island. Listening to Evangelis share stories from his youth just made the experience even more special.
I wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Paphos. The next time I land, this will be the...
