I gave this a lot of thought and knowing how Google Maps ratings impact a business it was not an easy decision and review to write.
First thing I’ll talk about is the staff and atmosphere. I see some reviews stating staff was disrespectful but in all my visits here, the staff behaved professionally albeit a little impersonal. The atmosphere these people are creating is therefore one of professionalism rather than one of warmth and kindness. Most people typically look for the latter at the place they eat while look for professionalism at a lawyers office or at a car service. If soft skills and stress management trainings would be provided to staff, it may improve the situation. Hopefully the pay is fair for the amount of work they put in.
The second thing are the various amenities available to customers. If you visit this place in the summer with kids, they’re gonna have a wonderful time because they have a large kids fun park right next to the outside sitting area, which is pretty large as well. The restaurant is cozy but I wouldn’t call it romantic. I guess it depends on the individual definition for romantic.
The third thing is food quality. This is where things start loosing consistency. You may get an amazing desert (like a “dinner” type brownie - those who come here often know what I’m talking about) but they might serve you a steak side dish so salty that you won’t be able to feel your tongue (or finish your side dish). Sometimes things like this happen but I don’t seem to be the only one that experiences a less than ideal food quality (read other reviews). The owner must do something about quality management in the kitchen. I’m unfortunately not qualified to offer any advice here.
And the forth thing is, well, value. Yes, I could have said money but people that would consider coming here care about value, not money. If it costs, it needs to be a full package. Financially, this place is costly. A family of 4 will easily pay €100 for lunch. For Brno, this is a lot. We’re not talking about a 5 courses menu, we’re talking run-of-the-mill simple food like pasta, a steak, French fries and some wine. Putting this together with the previous 3 points, it starts loosing appeal. The environment isn’t as warm as most would like, the food is hit or miss, yes, in the summer there are advantages but all-in-all its a honey-pot for a very special type of people.
It’s a love-hate relationship you’re getting yourself into by going here. If you want something more friendly and of better value, maybe spend a little more time looking around, especially if you’re a tourist.
Disclaimer: food quality feedback has been shared with the restaurant staff on the day of the visit. There was no follow-up, just a nod that they acknowledge what they heard.
I will update my rating based on the experience from...
Read moreThe food is really nice here, that's about it. If you want something more look elsewhere because the staff is horrible.
The reason for giving this restaurant 1 star is the greed and the unprofessionalism of the waiters.
1)The waiter messed up the order of beers, we asked to change them to the correct ones 2)Waiter agreed and changed them to the correct order 3)They billed us those beers that we took back even though it wasn't our mistake 4)While paying, another waiter was making it hard to remove those beers from the bill 5)Beers were eventually removed, but get this, they charged us with a soup that no one ordered(payback?) 6)The waiter kept saying that that soup can't be deleted from the computer and yes they forced us to pay for it(I'm 100% serious) 7)The waiter had this dissatisfied look on his face like we are wasting his time and it was very rude to us as customers
So to get this straight...the staff is acting nice and smiles but upon leaving they show their real faces.
For these high prices I expected more from...
Read moreA very nice fine-dine restaurant, suitable for business meetings or for some more special occasions. There is a big range of offered meals so I think that everybody would choose. I personally went for spaghetti carbonara, but I wasn't quite satisfied. For some reason, my meal was very dry. It's possible that I'm either used to something a bit different, not enough egg yolk was used, or that I was talking and eating the meal for too long so the meal got dry. But I stopped eating in the middle as I didn't enoy it much. The waiter waiting the table where I sat reacted and explained to me the way how spaghetti at the restaurant is prepared, but I wasn't offered any improvement or so. In general, staff is very polite and professional. And I like small details at the place, such as things offered to the female customers at ladies toilets. Since the toilets are located at -1 floor, the restuarant might not be suitable for people with disabilities that can't walk stairs. Unless there is another toilet for the customers that I...
