Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience at this restaurant today. I came with two friends. We were really looking forward to try the food as it's supposed to be better than another mexican restaurant that is just next door to us and we go quite often. When we came it was quite busy as it was sunday late afternoon. After waiting for a food for 50 minutes, we started to be quite nervous as we had only another 25 minutes before we had to leave for cinema. We asked the waiter about the arrival of the food and he informed us that in about 10 minutes they will start putting it on plates. It arrived 70 minute after we ordered!! We had exactly 5 minutes to eat some of it, put the rest into take away boxes and pay. I asked for new tacos to take with me as the ones that were already on my plate would get completely soakes after 4 hours in take away box. Paid 55 Cz for that, what really made me laugh. To sum it up, the service was bad - if the waiting time is over an hour, you inform your hosts and let them decide. The food was bad - I am judging from what I took out of the take away box after 4 hours and ate at home. The cheese was gone (left on the original tortilas) and it was all dried up. The bit of the food I ate in the restaurant during these few minutes I had, I don't really remember how it was as I was in such a rush. The atmosphere at the restaurant was nice, however, ours was spoiled. This could be nice restaurant but for the service and being it far away, it's not...
Read moreBarabizna is a restaurant held close to my heart - it is the only restaurant I´ve visited over the Atlantic ocean which does Mexican food justice. Frankly, when I feel homeick Barabizna really helps me out. Before I get to the food, there is one important thing to note - GET A RESERVATION. Barabizna is popular for a reason, and it is always busy and full. Only a day in advance is necessary. Also, the decoration in this place is exquisite. Everything is an art piece, and no space in the restaurant is left unused. It truly makes you feel comfortable, and even after so many times of visiting it is still a wonder to look at. The food is, of course, fantastic. It comes out quickly and tastes better than it has any right to. I would recommend the fried enchiladas (which I get nearly every time) and for drinks the frozen strawberry margarita and home made raspberry lemonade. The portion sizes are HUGE btw. Makes me feel like I am back in the States. An ideal place to commit a lil gluttony. The servers are very friendly and quite charasmatic. The only thing with Barabizna is that it is quite easy for the place to get really noisy, so it can be hard to hear ppl across the table but man that is such a...
Read moreBased on the reviews, I was not expecting a Mexican restaurant, but a pretty good tex-mex-inspired Czech restaurant. Yet I was still let down.
There was not a lot of meat in my burrito and I could not tell whether it was actually marinated in something or just boiled before shredding. The description contained jalapenos, but there were only two small pieces of it in the entire dish, which in turn could hardly be described as "spicy" even by Czech standards (which are pathetic compared to Mexico). On the other hand, random ingredients not listed in the description and not customary for a burrito were included - be extra careful about food alergies etc. To be fair, there was plenty of fresh vegetables, which is a plus.
The place is incredibly overcrowded for no real reason. Therefore, the waiting times are rough. The portion sizes are adequate (not "Huge", as some reviews claim), the prices are too high for what you get.
An overall rating of around 4 stars might be justifyable, but I rate 3 just to knock down the absurd rating of 4.7. This is an okay place to eat if you are in Zbraslav and hungry. Don't be a fool and don't drive here from Prague...
