Metins Grill — Restaurant in Aarhus Municipality

I never thought I would experience racism by Turkish people living and growing up in Denmark. I’m from Middle East myself and have fought against the racism in Denmark all my life in over the three decades I have been living here! When I went to Metins Grill by myself I always got a shawarma with Turkish bread BUT the last three times I’ve been there (this year) with my black boyfriend they have turned us down, pretending they didn’t have the bread anymore even though the customer right before us got it 2 times in a row! Or even when I offered to buy the bread from the baker myself. Are u really that nationalistic that U won’t sell YOUR TURKISH bread to a black guy!? I’m very disappointed of this behavior and I won’t be supporting a mindset like that. I’ve worked as a tour guide in Turkey and experienced the rasicm against blacks and Kurds too. Having lived in Turkey many years, a while back, I was really looking forward to a good Turkish experience. We ordered lamb kebab and adana kebab. Both were so salty that we had trouble eating them. We could not taste or feel any chilli in the Adana Kebab which is essential to the whole dish. Otherwise, you dont order Adana! The rice was basmati rice which I have never eaten in Turkey in my life. It had little flavour and was really not nice at all. Authentic Turkish rice is just superb. The music was Cuba Social Club. Such a shame they couldn´t make it a more genuine experience, there are so many wonderful Turkish artists out there. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. I really liked the Adana kebab, however, it could have been a bit spicier. Two downside I should mention is the service is quite slow. May be because there are too many customers. I waited 40 minutes after my order to receive the food. And half litre water bottle cost 22 dkk which is actually expensive.
