I recently dined at this restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The beef was exceptional - the meat was of great quality and the ingredients were clearly very fresh. Additionally, the staff member who sliced the bread was very handsome and patiently introduced me to different types of Danish bread.

The only minor flaw was that my dining companion and I accidentally ordered raw meat, which resulted in some discomfort due to eating it cold. In addition, raw meat is odourless due to its high quality. However, this was our own mistake and not a reflection of the restaurant's quality.

Jagten på Odenses bedste brunch fortsætter ufortrødent, og næste stop på ruten byder på en rejse tilbage til 1800-tallet, til lave lofter, til skæve vægge, til knirkende, brede gulvplanker og småsprossede vinduer.

Vi sidder i den gamle krostue, og kan gennem vinduerne ane forbipasserende besøgende i Den Fynske Landsby. Vi er landet i Café Krostuen hos Sortebro Kro, hvor dagens brunch skal indtages.

239 kr. er prisen for et bræt med 8 små serveringer af klassiske brunchelementer:

Håndrørt, cremet og let syrlig ymer med knasende, honningristet kakaogranola og skøn, sød sirup.

Pocheret æg med luftig, syrlig og cremet hollandaisesauce. Desværre var det kun det ene æg, der havde flydende æggeblomme; det andet havde fået alt for længe - også i andet forsøg.

Letrøget højkvalitets laks imperiale med en smagfuld rygeostcreme, bid fra syltede sennepskorn og lakserogn og et dejligt kick fra revet peberrod.

Hønsesalat med store stykker fed og smagfuld høne, toppet med tykke skiver af sprød bacon.

Serranoskinke og ”Kongepølse”: ristet og velsmagende krydderpølse, der dog fremstod mager, kompakt og tør frem for sprød og saftig.

Gammel Knas i en generøs stavform med kvædekompot; en skudsikker ost i stilsikker harmoni med syrlig frugt.

Rabarbertrifli med makron; en lækker sommerlig afslutning.

Ved siden af et udvalg af velsmagende rugbrød, samt luftigt, lyst brød der dog ikke virkede lige så nybagt som rugbrødet. Og økologisk, saltet smør!

Det hele blev skyllet ned med et glas syntetisksmagende lemonade med ingefær og lime (35,-) og en meget dyr stempelkande-kaffe (60 kr. pr. person).

Med en så høj pris følger også høje forventninger til både kvalitet og håndværk; en forventning om at alle elementer er veltilberedte og sidder lige i skabet – især de hjemmelavede. Selv om denne brunch indeholdt både mættende, delikate og veltilberedte dele, levede håndværket på det pocherede æg, pølsen og brødet desværre ikke helt op til vores...

A nice, cozy, very “Danish” place. Here you can enjoy a great selection of seasonal dishes made with local ingredients. They have a wide array of Danish beers and nice wines.

We had the Pentecost menu, featuring smoked eel with scrambled eggs, crispy plaice fillet, and lightly smoked salmon with roe. For the main course, we tried both the pike-perch with smoked mussel sauce and the summer buck with browned butter potatoes – both were excellent. Nice ambiance, but the setting of the menu in my opinion, it’s not really reasonable. Especially at the end came twice with the sorbets, i mean you can arrive at the same time but no need to separate. Maybe the chef was trying to show the creativity that sorbets in different ways. The cod fish soup with purée, it’s quite strange for me also. Honestly, for me the note is 7/10. I did love the service, the exchange with the Copenhagen boy was interesting. The team is with the young people, they put their hearts on it.

The staff were lovely and took the time to help with any translations and suggestions, also very accommodating to vegetarian requirements. The food was too tier - we had a lot of duck on our trip but this was the best duck dish in my opinion, the small things like the bread was also amazing would thoroughly recommend the focaccia!

A very nice boutique restaurant in Odense, the inside has a rustic feel and warm atmosphere. The staff were lovely and took the time to help with any translations and suggestions, also very accommodating to vegetarian requirements. The food was too tier - we had a lot of duck on our trip but this was the best duck dish in my opinion, the small things like the bread was also amazing would thoroughly recommend the focaccia!
