Pearl Beach Club — Restaurant in Higüey

I’ll start by saying that we have been there 2 days in a row and that I don’t normally write reviews, but I would like to at least warn people. First of all, the service isn’t great. People working there act like they are doing you a favor whenever they acknowledge your existence. Second of all, I’m a firm believer that if a place is expensive, you pay for service and quality. Service was lacking and unfortunately so was quality. They market themselves as having the best sushi in town, so on the first day we tried 3 different roles, one was inedible, so we left the plate almost full, 2 were okay, but I think they were just okay in comparison with the very bad one. We’ve tried 5 different cocktails, none of them good, 2 of them actually bad. The second day we ordered the steak, which the meat quality was horrible, very fatty and the taste quite bad, we also ordered sashimi and the tuna tataki. The tuna tataki was seared too much and was cut very thick, so not enjoyable. The sashimi very bad, was supposed to come with a truffle ponzu sauce, which it didn’t. When we asked them to bring the sauce, they told us that that was it. If you’ve ever had ponzu truffle sauce, you know that it has a distinct smell to it, they brought us a watered down soya sauce and told us it was truffle ponzu. On another note, if you don’t book the “vip” table, bring towels, as they don’t offer any. One last thing, is that the pool is very dirty. On the first day, the place was very empty (probably around 10 customers in total) and when we went in, there were a lot of dead insects and dirt floating in the pool. Do with that information what you will. They seemed to be able to do what they want and treat customers badly, as there aren’t many competitors around. I like this place I’m visiting often for more than three years. It’s a nice oasis far from the noise and hustle, compared to the other Punta Cana beaches. It used to be $30 for a person and now they rise it to 50$ for a minimum consumption. Which is OK in most of the cases but sometime I want to pass for one or two hours just not enough time to fulfill the $50 minimum requirement. It’s always been music at the pool area and sometime they organize, dancing and other events. I don’t know why lately they moved the the DJ and the speakers next to the beach chairs and it’s very loud. The previous way was better.. because people are trying to relax at the beach area and now I cannot make conversation with my friends just Too noisy. This just come back maybe from there complaining the noise cannot sleep used to be better. I give three stars for the service for the reason that the waiters trying softly to cheating in the check.. so visitors ask for your receipts and check out what is in there. Despite of that, that’s my favorite place in the area.. in one of the important things the management responding to most of the comments . It’s nice to know that your opinion is...

If I could give them Zero I would, was hooked into a tour of the Catalonia Pearl. You know the old saying, 'Curiosity killed the cat' well this nearly killed this cat, but 9 lives, Thank God. Was told would only be a few minutes, it took half the day. It's beautiful but as always there's a catch. They talk you up and try to Con you into selling you the Vacation Club, a very expensive one at that. Vacation Club that translates into Time -Share, if you are really paying attention. It is a Shell company operating from Panama, they are illegal in the state I live, so they mask themselves through another name, you know a front company? These sales and Company people are all fake, everything they offer is a great big LIE! There are other people complaining of same thing online. They take a scan a copy of your passport and send it over seas..but they better watch their but t's if they plan anything against me, cause I went to the U.S. Embassy and rendered testimony against them as an added insurance. These E.T.C club sellers are giving the Catalonia name a bad name and reputation. If you go to the Catalonia Pearl or any of the Catalonia Resorts avoid these Sellers like...
