Old Nubian Guesthouse is easily one of the best places to stay in Nubia/Aswan if you value incredible views, personable hospitality, and heart-warming simplicity.
This place has a one-of-a-kind energy that captures you as soon as you set foot in there. It is not a 5-star hotel, but it offers a boutique-like guest experience, easily a 5-star recommendation.
The experience is thought-out and smooth. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and refreshing Karkadeh. The restaurant is so cutely decorated and the rooms smelled wonderful as soon as we walked in. The location is central yet secluded and quiet.
One of the things I really appreciate when traveling is a small place done right, with owners that are directly involved and genuinely care about their customer’s experience. They were always willing to help us with our day plans, the boats were promptly available to drop us off and pick us up as we headed out on new adventures, and all our requests for specific Nubian dishes were accommodated.
Make sure to have some Kaage, Nashabih, fish tajines and ful at breakfast. Delicious, clean and perfectly seasoned.
I can continue praising this place so highly, and I whole-heartedly recommend it for travelers looking to connect with incredible locals, enjoy a room with a spectacular view and know they’re at a place where their every request is accommodated with love. You can’t fake this.
I can’t wait to stay there again!
A big thank you to Mostafa, Haroon, Rizk, Shika, Ahmed and everyone else who made our...
Read moreThe owner of the guest house is very rude and he doesn’t have the least way of respect as we were there and felt so hot and we didn’t want to sit any more and even the order wasn’t ready yet, then we felt that we want to leave specially that there were guests before us and they felt that they were scammers specially that bill wasn’t like it was written in the website,so we asked the stuff to leave and they were so rude that we asked them to leave and we found the owner called “Mostafa” coming behind us and shouting with loud voice and asking us why are we leaving ?, we told him the reason, he told us ok leave now and don’t come back !!! We were shocked and we didn’t respond to that, he kept saying this my restaurant and don’t come back, he was really crazy and you will n’t feel safe at all while you are there as if you are kidnapped so i really don’t recommend it at all neither as restaurant nor...
Read moreThis family run place is amazing. I stayed here with a group a few weeks ago. It was fantastic from start to finish. The views, the staff, the rooms, the food. Everything was great. Even if just passing by to visit Philae Temple you should stop for some delicious food. This place is a little gem. Thank you Mostafa and Ramadan and all the team for looking after us so well. Especially for looking after our guest who was feeling unwell and stayed in bed for a few extra hours while we were out and about. She was in excellent hands and so happy to be able to rest in the comfort of her room. Thank you guys and see you all again soon,...
