الواحة Elwaha — Restaurant in Saleh Gahin

Excellent. We were the only obvious foreigners in the restaurant and the menu was only in Arabic, which we don't speak. No matter: the staff spoke great English and was eager to help. We gave the waiter an approximate budget for dinner and asked for help getting a tasty selection of fish and sides. The chefs making the sides allowed us to taste each item before we made our final selections. They came in UNDER our budget and delivered an excellent dinner that we will remember for years. On top of all, it was a lovely view on the Nile. Don't change a thing! Our best meal in Egypt.

PS - I didn't see any signage saying Elwaha restaurant on the outside, just the Arabic spelling but it was still the right place! Look at the pics and you'll get an idea what to look for.

PPS - 'Seafood only'. We aren't big fish eaters but this restaurant may have changed our minds! I also really enjoyed the sides (baba ganoush, rolled eggplant, a green salsa, bread) and one could come back to the restaurant just for a...

Either I didn't figure out how to order things here, either my expectations were way too high. I saw very nice pictures in other reviews, tried to order it, but they didn't have a good half of it available.

Even from what I ordered, salads never came. Juices are really good here though.

There's no non-arabic menu, so we were offered just a picture of menu processed through Google lens on the waiters phone. It might be not very easy to match those names to what you see in others...

The best fish I had in Egypt! I passed here by chance, and it was a complete surprise. We saw the sunset on the Nile from the terrace and we could choose exactly the fish we wanted. I just took a grilled fish and had no expectations, but how amazing it was! Creamy and spicy, I still dream about it 😍 very good and recommended, and also cheap for this quality !!
