NOA is well reputed restaurant and hence decided to give its 1 Michelin star sister (NOA Chef’s Hall) a visit during my trip to Tallinn. The restaurant commands exceptional views, esp for sunsets and is a very “romantic” dining venue as a result of that.
The tasting menu comprised 9-10 courses. There is a wine and tea pairing menu to go along with the courses. I went with the non-alcoholic tea pairing. As far as the food is concerned, it was what you would expect of a one star place. However, nothing jumped out in the menu as exceptional and beating expectations. The pigeon main course was my favourite part of the meal.
Service was really good. You are constantly taken care of throughout the meal by the restaurant staff.
Overall, the dining experience at NOA Chef’s Hall was a good one, but I am not sure if this establishment is a must visit if you’re in Tallinn for a few days. It’s a good restaurant but probably not a top choice in my view. Maybe a visit to NOA (the Bib Gourmand place) is a better choice if you’re only in Tallinn for a...
Read moreHow this place doesn't have at least 2 michelin stars is beyond me. I lack words to describe the food but let me try. Everything tasted sublime. I even liked the pigeon paté served with the pigeon, and I'm usually not into any form of liver. The textures were subtle but added to each dish. For example the skin on the arctic char was so crisp. There was nothing I didn't like. It's impossible to choose favourites but some of the definite standouts were the rhubarb tartelet, the morels, the choux, the brioche, the arctic char, the consomme and the madeleine. I went for the less expensive wine pairing and all the wines were really good. I might go for the more expensive pairing if I ever go again. Personally I always enjoy food much more when the service is good. The service here is great. Not only did I leave happy, I had been very happy all night, both when eating, when interacting with the staff and when watching them all do their job with excellence. The rough criteria for two michelin stars is that you'd go out of your way to eat there. I did....
Read moreDisapointing experience. All started well but not at the level expected for a 1 star Michelin. The overall impression is mitigated between really nice expérience and average one. The vue is exeptional, the service is nice but with a commercial expectation which decreases the pleasure. You can see it on the final invoice. The welcome champagne being invoiced 28 eur/ cup. It is just not elegant at all most of all when you think it is complimentary. It leaves a bitter taste in mouth and the feeling not to have thought please take my money. Thus way overpriced. Better to take a flight ticket to France or Italy and enjoy a really nice restaurant with food made with love...
