I expected a lot more from such a place. Prices are high but the food is average and the service is far from being perfect. We celebrated a birthday there and all of us agreed that the place does not meet the expected price and Michelin guide level.
From the positive side I liked the tuna "raw" steak. Some other starters were also ok like oysters, french fries and langoustine shrimp carpaccio. Childrens dishes were tasty (pasta and chicken schnizel) and these were served first, which was a positive note in serving. Ribeye steak with crispy potatos was good, though it was strange that the steak was cut into pieces. Trout was also good. Some dishes were ok but nothing special (for example, asparagus and squid). Zander fillet looked too lonely on the plate. It was not too bad, but the serving was definitely poor and the taste didn't amaze me either. Spicy carrot was a disaster - extremely salty, randomly cut and not spicy.
Tiramisu was tasty, but it looked lopsided and damaged — the base seemed torn or cut unevenly as if I ordered it in an Ikea store restaurant. Ice cream scoop was just an ice cream scoop - no decoration at all (not a single berry or jam or anything). They also offered only 2 tastes: vanilla and salty caramel. Brownie looked like someone has eaten it before us - it was broken into pieces. It might look original but it's not a brownie. The taste was good though.
The choice for non-drinkers was poor. Nowadays many places in Tallinn provide vague menu of non-alcoholic drinks. There were 2 non-alcoholic wine options in the menu but in reality there was none (we wanted to have a bottle). The only option was a wheat beer. As an alternative the waitress called for a bartender who asked about our coctail preferences (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). I asked for a sweet non-alcoholic cocktail and mentioned that a tiny sour bit would be also ok but main taste should be sweet. In reality I got a cocktail named "passion sour" which was very sour and was exactly the same passion homemade lemonade (that we also ordered) just with a foam on top. I asked for another drink, a sweet one, and the second go was better. It tasted like a bublegum syrup with water (I wouldn't call it a coctail), but at least it was sweet. For the alcoholic coctail the bartender asked whether it should be a light one, medium or a strong one. We ordered the strong one but it didn't taste strong, I guess it had a portion of rum in it and that's all. We had to ask explicitly for the straws (otherwise the cocktails were served without).
Coffee was disappointing. It was definitely not a cappucino as there was no foam (1 mm of foam max).
The service was mostly ok, but there were multiple issues that made us be disappointed. For example, they forgot about one drink and we had to remind about it when we received starters. Empty dishes were not cleaned fast enough, in some moments table was full of empty glasses that we either didn't use or were already empty. One of the spoons was dirty. I didn't like that the cutlery was put directly on the table (with no cover or napkin) and the table didn't look like too clean (it was sticky in some places). The waitress tried to make our dinner enjoyable making jokes but it's a matter of taste I would say. Some phrases were not too nice, for example, when we asked for the desert menu, instead of just acknowledging the ask she would say "I will clean up the table and then bring the menu". A couple of times it just sounded like we were disterbing her. Also she never asked if we liked the dishes. From the good side she immediately brought a vase for the flowers, tried to clean up the table (it was not all the time overcrowded), brought the dishes to everyone more or less at the same time and other basic things you would expect from such a place.
The view was beautiful, interior was nice except tables and chairs. We will not...

What a beautiful Restaurant! At first sight, the white guide was right once again. I wish I could give them a better review.
The entrance is beautiful and the concierge was really welcoming. she also told us, she got us the best table which was true in some ways. The view was amazing but we were really fast disgusted by the dirty windows and spider webs everywhere. The service was really disappointing and slow. The Waitress was really pushy and rude when she got to our table after letting us wait for so long. after 20 minutes we got our aperitif and ordered the first two starters, clearly saying that we will have a main course as well but we weren't ready to order that yet. She basically forced us to order something. Once the waitress brought the first dish without saying anything about it and also while we were still trying to enjoy our aperitif, I knew where I was. It is the kind of restaurants I really dislike for the following impressions I got:
No caring about details. Otherwise there would not be dirty windows and spider webs everywhere. There might be a couple of people that actually care about the wellbeing of customers. But the head only cares about money generating. I could sense that in the way the restaurant represents itself with being all fancy but not caring about details. The kitchen is not really creative and doesn't really care much but tries to sell the food as amazing. example? Sure! Rice crisp on Salmon was everything else but crispy. Tuna Tartar with guacamole, cucumber and ginger. Or just fancy plated tuna Ceviche? The Beef tartar was really good but there is a difference between tartar and diced meat... the pieces were huge and way too chewy. Asparagus and wild garlic (karulauk) in August, in estonia? Also... I hope the sand and little stone in the duck dish wasn't a make up for the lacking crispness in the potato crisp in the first dish.
I felt really bad after telling the waitress how disappointed we were. She seemed really understanding and thankful for the honest feedback. If the restaurant owners care, they will ask their staff what else was pointed out by us. I am not going to continue since this review is already pretty harsh.
In my opinion this restaurant is not worth being mentioned by the white guide unless the testers were manipulated by...
Read moreThis is a highly praised place, but it didn’t meet my expectations. To start with the reception: no one noticed us at the reception area, and we had to approach the kitchen staff over the counter, after which a waiter was called with some surprise. The waiter sent us back to the reception area and mumbled something about our reservation. It didn’t matter what I had written in the reservation (I requested a more private corner); we were seated next to the kitchen counter in the middle of the room. It was clear that no table had actually been reserved for us. Then, we were handed one drink menu and two food menus, typical of an average pub. The drink menu looked nice, but the food menu could use some effort in its presentation. Neither the menu nor the drink list encouraged interaction with the waiter. To our surprise, a female waiter then approached us, who was much more pleasant, though she spoke broken Estonian. Her cheerfulness and authenticity earned the service five stars. The restaurant played loud lounge music, which added nothing to the atmosphere. The overall appearance of the restaurant was clean and pleasant but nothing special. The place lacks its own story. The restrooms were catastrophically dirty. But the main thing— the food. The oyster presentation was excellent. The duck pate was mediocre; the croquettes seemed like they had been sitting out for too long. The spicy paprika was also average; the goat cheese didn’t play its role in the dish. The offered artisanal bread was inedible due to its charred edges—it felt like eating a charcoal tablet. The bread was served with the most generic store-bought butter. For the main course, I highly praise the lamb steak—perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, the grilled salmon was utterly disappointing; it was dry, and the sauce served with it ruined the entire dish. The sauce was so intense that it overpowered all other flavors. In the end, I couldn’t even eat it and had to send back my spicy carrots and over half of the salmon because the sauce’s taste was overwhelming and triggered a gag reflex. After that, I didn’t even want dessert. An interesting experience, but I wouldn’t...
