Stay away!!! Horrible HORRIBLE experience. And I am Nigerian so I speak with authority. I took my Ethiopian relatives there. I was deeply ashamed. 1- the food was simply not tasty. My cooking is far far superior. Okro soup was cooked to death. Egusi soup was just a bland funny tasting mush. 2 - side dishes of plantain came so long after the meal had been finished and was overripe soggy and so oily. 3 - the room we were sat in had wardrobes with dirty clothes hanging in them. 4 - we were charged 4x 1100 birr for 4 sides of plantain which means the side is more expensive than the main???? How?? 5 - I complained to the clueless waiter and the next day a female manager texted me saying there was a mistake and a refund would happen. The refund never happened despite chasing multiple times. 6 - I gave them a chance to redeem themselves with the refund before writing this review which is the first time I have ever done a restaurant review. 7 - as a Nigerian I'm ashamed this is what Ethiopians think we eat and they're also scamming guests. 8 - I met a Nigerian contact who works in the building opposite Malaika restaurant and he agreed the food is very poor. 9 - few days later I took an even larger group to Meskott restaurant near Arat Kilo where we had main courses and deserts and the bill was STILL less than malaika.
ETHIOPIANS please note, this is not how Nigerian food is...
Read moreMalaika African Grill is a coo spot for family and friends. But it’s mostly family oriented. They have nice Nigerian cuisines, Ghanaian food and Ethiopian foods too.
You could also order for takeouts and still enjoy them. But their charges is off the roof 😳. You might really want to get yourself boxed up, before attempting to dine in or takeout.
The environment is really clean, but you might struggle a bit with parking, as they do not have a space for cars, so you might just park by the expressway.
I’f you’re going there for the first time, I’d suggest you hold some cash and I’d recommend their fish pepper soup or goat meat pepper soup. But their food is quite pricey.
I had the Okro soup with goat meat and pounded yam. While my friend had the Egusi soup with goat meat and pounded yam. Not so bad.
P.S: their fried plantain is pathetic 🤦🏽♀️ I’d not recommend it. And it’s overly pricey.

Read moreThe location is far from the city center. They don’t have a paper menu but showed us one on the phone. The food was mid, but when the bill came it was more than double what was written. We asked about this and the waiter told us that he was actually doing us a favor by not adding the VAT but if we continued complaining he would add it. We got to call the manager and she helped resolve the issue. Trying to scam your customers is very unprofessional and they should honestly...
