A friend told me about this place about 4 years ago. He said it had the best Indian food in Ethiopia. After a few visits here over the past few years, I think I agree. I’ve been impressed with the food on all of my visits. On the most recent one, I ordered butter chicken, veg biriyani, chicken lollipops, buttered naan, garlic naan, and mango lassis for my party of three. The food was perfectly spiced. It was on the milder side, but I’m sure they would’ve spiced it up if I had asked. The service from Idilawit was attentive and friendly. Great experience. Good Indian food. About 18 rooms air conditioned. 24hrs hot water. Regular standard bar. Also serves Ethiopian food. Key person Mr. Krishna. Cooks from Uttaranchal, India. Staff courteous and disciplined. Room tarrif reasonable, mostly occupied. Rooms are clean. Bathrooms need maintenance and repair due to damp ceiling corners. Overall a good place about one hour drive from Addis Ababa. Calm and no disturbing sound polution. Safe and guarded parking in the compound for about ten vehicles. Comfortable for family. Ok, here's the skinny..if you are hankering for some Indian, or for that matter non-ethiopianl grub, head here. Service is good, prices fair (chicken Massala = 1.5 euros).. food good. Just remember, this is a simple place, like a businessman 2 star hotel..they could maintain things better but hey, very hard to find a well maintained place here..for brits, this will not knock your socks off..it tasted great as we have been in country a month..and we are accustomed to Indian every 2 weeks..could use a bit more spice ..all in all...
