Rudy's Restaurant — Restaurant in Central

Reading about Rudy's on the internet made me curious to go try out and see how they portray "authenticity" in their Italian dishes. Unfortunately, we could not find it. I walked in with 2 of my other mates and we all agreed upon three things - the prices were too high, the quantity was too less, and the taste of the food was below average to say the least. There aren't many vegetarian options available either so please be aware when visiting this restaurant with your vegetarian family/mates. The service from staff and the atmosphere on the other hand was great, but ofcourse people go to a restaurant for the food, not for the service. The average price of a dish here is around $35, which is very high for the amount of food we had received (we ended up going to another place to fulfill our half-empty stomachs). Rudy’s definitely delivers on 95% of their dishes with some fresh, innovative choices for Suva diners. The Staff are charming and friendly, homemade sourdough and dried tomato tapenade starter was excellent and the Vivaldi music playing was a classy choice. The beef strips special, risotto and pasta with fish looks lovely. And then came my vegetarian lasagne. Sadly for a deceptively iconic dish, it was visually limp, burnt and slightly underwhelming after the presentation of the other dishes. Not to worry, sometime you just pick the wrong dish on the night. The Black Forrest cake dessert was fine and the coffee is excellent . Went here last week with 3 friends. We got:

Appetizers- eggplant something (don’t remember the full name)

Mains- Ravioli, Risotto (best out of all- it was so warm and comforting) and the Parmigiana Pizza

Desserts- Tiramisu, mascarpone gelato, cheesecake, crème brûlée (loved this so much)!

Everything we had was either vegan/ vegetarian and it was delicious.

Drinks- I forgot the names, but the staff were amazing in recommending drinks
