Cafe Kuusijärvi — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

✌Glutenfree Options✌ Surprisingly tasty fish- and mashed potatoes lunch. Honestly, I didn't expect that from a busy cafeteria with a typical everyday selection.

You take a tray and plate and fill up yourself, a self-service which is paid at the cash desk, before you sit down at a table, indoor or outdoors.

I enjoyed sitting on the outdoor terrace, though it was a bit challenging for the season with chilly April weather.

With a view of the lake and the many winter bathers who came and went on the bathing jetty, with ladders down into the icy water, it was some kind of entertainment as well. In the photo, one can spot them between the trees.

It was very relaxing being in the nature, out in the fresh air having such a tasty lunch.

I will absolutely come back another day if I happen to pass by - or maybe plan a day off in Kuusijärvi beautiful...

A bit unconvenient of a location if coming from Helsinki, but worth it. The lake is small but deep with a sand bottom. Lots of docks to jump from, many saunas to try (both electric and smoke). Smoke saunas are very crowded and the regulars like it very hot. Prepare for this. Lake is quite warm and the silence makes this a great place to visit. Cafeteria staff is friendly and prices affordable. They offer a variery of snacks and drinks for the hungry. Smoke sauna is quite expensive (12 € with no discount), but...

Don't expect anything fancy. I would say this cafeteria lives solely from customers waiting to get into the sauna or having a drink or snack after. I had the reindeer burger, which I was told is a mix of beef and reindeer. It was a bit pricey with 17€ just for the burger. Taste was good, but nothing I would come here for. The order is taken at the cashier and return your plate yourself to the cleaning station. Don't know about the snacks and cakes, but I think if you are hungry you can find something...
