Ravintola Marine — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

Stopped by for a coffee and donut whilst walking the dog. People on the terrace so I put the dog on a short leash and went inside with him to grab the food intending to enjoy it in the sun outside. Had done the same thing last summer with no issues. Filled my tray, dog was quiet and behaving, man behind the counter tells me no dogs allowed. Fine I said, not planning on being inside. Will just pay and head out. Not good enough apparently. No dogs allowed! That's no problem for me as long as I know. There's no sign on the door or anywhere else so I asked why not have one to avoid confusion? No, he says. I should just know. Where there's food, no dogs! I left my tray, told him he could keep the food and exited. The guy was needlessly rude and confrontational, which I could put down to having a bad day but seeing some of the other reviews maybe not. Could all be avoided by spending a couple of euros on a sticker for the door. Other places seem to manage just fine....

Greek restaurant run by actual Greeks, so as genuine as they come in Finland. Quality / price ratio is very nice and the person who served us spoke good English. This our first visit was in winter, which may have influenced the menu: only two vegetarian main courses and one fish dish were listed. The meat list was long and looked nicely varied. I enjoyed my salad with grilled prawns a lot and my son liked the salmon, and the two desserts (lemon cake and a filo morsel with ice cream) and both our coffees (one Greek and one cappuccino) were yummy. One point docked for the accessibility ramp, which my son, who is strong and handy with his wheelchair, could not...

This restaurant is nicely situated at the sea but does not take advantage of its surroundings. The food is unfortunately gas station standard. It was sausage sauce with rice and frozen vegetables served as buffet. The service was not available in English and not a smile was seen. The bread we ate was same standard as the Finnish school system provides its kids for public funds. The recommendation is to hire a real chef and level up...
