The concept blends food, fun, and setting in a way that feels refreshing. A short 60-second boat ride brings you to the island, where you can enjoy a summer drink and explore a bit of its history before dinner.

We inquired about the vegan menu, clarifying that we were able to consume dairy and fish. I was initially reserved about a restaurant focused on smoked BBQ offering vegan dishes, but it delivered surprisingly well! While the smoked cauliflower, vegan wiener, and mushrooms naturally offered a different flavor profile compared to traditional beef brisket, smoked pork ribs, and chicken, they exceeded my expectations. The sides were great, especially the mac & cheese.

That being said, a slightly adjusted price point for the vegan menu, perhaps around €49 instead of €59, might offer better value. It still feels like an accommodation rather than a mainstay option. In today's culinary landscape, I believe we're past the point where vegan options should be considered 'special' or niche.

Another notable aspect is the subtle American theme throughout the experience. The soundtrack featured mostly American AOR, country, and similar genres, and the wine selection leaned heavily towards American varieties. While that reinforces the BBQ identity, a broader wine list might appeal to more guests.

Great concept of a speciality restaurant. Located on a tiny island near Rovaniemi, the dinner includes a boat ride from the central pier and a selection of smoked BBQ with side dishes. Food was delicious and sauces amazing. Great value for money. Definitely an experience worth to try! Opens only on certain dates, requires pre-booking.

PS. Do not go if you are a vegetarian or prefer not to eat meat. It would be entirely wrong...
