A bit Hidden, but this is a gem!

Nestled in the heart of Champagne, Au 36 offers a culinary experience that perfectly complements the region’s famed sparkling wines. From the moment you step into this charming establishment, you are greeted with a warm, inviting ambiance that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.

The menu at Au 36 is a delightful showcase of local ingredients, expertly crafted into dishes that are both innovative and rooted in tradition. Each plate is a testament to the chef’s creativity and commitment to excellence. The foie gras, paired with a delicate Champagne jelly, is a sublime starter that highlights the restaurant’s ability to harmonize flavors and textures.

The mains are equally impressive. The tender beef fillet, cooked to perfection, melts in your mouth and is accompanied by a rich truffle sauce that elevates the dish to new heights. The seafood options are also noteworthy, with the seared scallops standing out for their freshness and exquisite seasoning.

Of course, a visit to Au 36 would not be complete without indulging in their Champagne selection. The knowledgeable staff is more than happy to guide you through their extensive list, ensuring that each glass perfectly complements your meal.

Dessert is an absolute must. The house-made macarons are a highlight, offering a sweet, delicate end to a meal that leaves you thoroughly satisfied. The presentation is impeccable, each dish a visual masterpiece that hints at the culinary journey you are about to embark on.

Service at Au 36 is top-notch, with attentive, friendly staff who are passionate about food and wine. Their dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience is evident in every detail, from the beautifully set tables to the expertly timed courses.

Overall, Au 36 is a must-visit for anyone in the Champagne region. Whether you are a local or a tourist, the restaurant offers a dining experience that is both luxurious and accessible, making it a standout destination for food lovers. Make sure to book in advance, as this gem is quickly becoming a favorite among those in the know.

We arrived Hautvillers with high regards considering the rave reviews we have seen on the internet before coming. We looked forward to tasting the local specialties of Hautvillers. The team at Au 36 are welcoming and we were seated promptly at the first level of the restaurant. It was a little cramp due to human traffic passing the small aisle to enter and to the counter for payment. We requested for a table on the lounge upstairs and were satisfied that we were given slightly after even though lunch was already served. We ordered a 6 Flutes champagne degustation for 2, a Pork pottee, a set of cheese platter, a set of house special tapas and 2 dessert. We are pleasantly surprised with the presentation of the champagne but we are disappointed with the quality as we felt that the standard is kind of low. We did not quite like it. The food served are authentically local but they are basic and serving is relatively small. The hospitality of the team is warm and friendly, we enjoyed the...

Hautvillers is a tiny but upscale village and this is a polished and trendy restaurant featuring Champagne tasting and retail sales. We had lunch there and loved it. Beautiful modern design, sharp attentive staff, and a focused menu with fresh and slightly modern interpretations of poulet femier & saucisse aux lentillions. There are various tasting flights that are kind of California in their approach of delivery but which I grudgingly admit work wonderfully. There are three basic grapes commonly used in Champagne and you can taste them in a flight where each glass of wine is one grape only being Chardonnay, then Meunier and then Pinot Noir. Really a fun process. The catch is that a modern high end restaurant, great staff, and quality food has to be paid for so despite being in a small village, the pricing is more big city. These people work hard and deliver. ...

Fantastic venue for a champagne degustation(tasting). The first time visited was the year they opened and we were almost the only people there that day, five years on and it’s a hotspot and go to for the local guides, so try and book to avoid disappointment, but in April/May we did just pitch up 2 days and they squeezed us in. Delicious champagne, pay attention to what you’re drinking, it often changes day to day, as you can then go and buy it to take home. Substantially more affordable than the big houses and often much more interesting to drink, bring a car so you can pack it full. À votre santé🥂

After a week of great food, service, and care and attention to presentation and every detail in and around the Champagne region, we've been disappointed by a simple cheese plate! The cheese was too cold - so lacked flavour. The amounts were small. No side plates were provided and we were charged €17 for the board which seemed costly compared to everywhere else we had dined. We ordered a bottle of water- which never arrived. It's a beautiful little restaurant with friendly staff, but seems a bit of a tourist trap.
