L'Arbousier — Restaurant in Ajaccio

You enter the fairytale from the entrance... beautiful cozy elegant lobby,nice library and fire place area...than the terrace - exceptional view of the sea,and beautifully set up tables ,you can't expect something more beautiful than this incredible view together with a very welcoming people can't call them staff..they choose very nice table for my dinner here . Menu is an extensive one gastronomic menu ,one day menu with 2 incredible choices of a kind, and A la cart menu.Exsecution of the food and service is from a very high standard ...this place cant never be simple...I like to visit it every day and night every season....I believe I can't get enough....the menus are very well done,you don't miss anything from the fresh day fish catch ,the all fine meat and seasons vege tables and fruit...Silver service is top notch...sounds are provided by the nature of the sea ..and happy dining people of the heavenly place called restaurant....Mega...

We had been excited to go to this restaurant, but the experience was horrible. This place both takes itself way too seriously and has incredibly low standards of class and taste. As we arrived, the woman in charge forced my husband to go change, a 20 minute round trip drive, without letting him converse with me. Apparently his crisp tailored shorts (with suede shoes and button-down shirt) was not up to their dress code, despite the teens in tee shirts and shorts at the next table over. Then midway through our meal the tackiest oligarch-wannabe a few tables over lights up a giant cigar, and they by around making sure he is happy and his needs are met. The food was horribly overpriced and you would think no one had ever explained the term “dietary restriction” to the servers or chef....

Sono fermamente convinto che le cose belle spesso hanno un costo elevato. Tuttavia, è una brutta sensazione quando si lascia un posto come l’Arbousier, dove si entra consapevoli della spesa, le aspettative sono alte, corroborate dall’inserimento in guida Michelin ma si è consapevoli di aver pagato, con il salatissimo conto, soltanto il biglietto d’ingresso per una splendida vista, da una splendida terrazza, sul golfo di Ajaccio e sulle isole Sanguinarie. O quasi. Il servizio si spende molto all’apparenza, cerca simpatia, ma abbiamo dovuto costantemente versarci l’acqua da soli (cosa che non mi costa nulla, ovviamente, ma non in un posto così); soprattutto, il sommelier è sopraggiunto molti minuti dopo aver scelto la bottiglia per la serata, in colpevole ritardo. Fatta eccezione per il crudo di mare, di ottima qualità per merito della materia prima, ci viene servito un risotto allo zafferano “ai frutti di mare” con un singolo gambero spalmato al centro, pieno di burro e limone - passabile, ma non oltre. È stato però, quando ci viene servito un dentice, curiosamente calloso e molto, davvero molto simile ad un merluzzo e dunque completamente insapore, che la delusione è stata massima. Questo appunto è stato peraltro fatto al personale di sala che non ha responsabilità dirette, ma non ha saputo fornire spiegazioni in merito. Dolci senza anima, pigri. Mirto della casa, per contro, molto buono: ma se è il mirto ad essere l’unica cosa buona della serata insieme a poco altro…magari è il caso di evitare di entrare la prossima volta che passiamo davanti. Consiglio che estendo soprattutto ai miei...
