We visited L'Armailly three times during our Christmas ski holiday in Tignes les Brevieres and couldn't have been happier. We were there during an unusual time (during COVID Omicron surge which prevented UK residents from visiting and likely kept many others away), so I don't know if we were able to walk in and dine without reservations because of that, but our group of 10 was always accommodated without reservations or a wait, even on New Year's Eve. The wait staff was outstanding and cared for us perfectly. The food and drinks were equally great every single visit.
We had most of the dishes on the menu during our visit to Tignes les Brevieres. Main dishes of note were the tartiflette, the duck filet with honey and apples, the platter of meats grilled at the table (la braserade), the fondue, and of course the pizza (burrata pizza in particular) - all very good. The frog legs and escargots were also delicious, though simply prepared with garlic and butter. We only had room for dessert one evening, and most of our group had the lovely creme brulee; though not bad, the tiramisu wasn't as highly regarded by the one person who ordered it. The drink selection paired perfectly with the rest of the menu -- we had plenty of both the house selections of Saint Emilion and Cote du Rhone reds, several whites, and most of the beer on the menu; there were no complaints and many glasses/bottles were consumed.
This was our favorite place by far to dine in Tignes les Brevieres. Not only would I highly recommend, it will be my first choice if we are able to return to the village again...
Read moreDelicious food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere – but of course you pay for what you get. From our point of view, it was worth every penny. We had strips of steak that you cook on a hot slab (brought to your table) with a side of dauphinoise potatoes and it was fantastic. Others in the group had the raclette with associated meats and potatoes and also a calzone and everyone was equally impressed with the mains. To round things off we all had ice creams and they were great, too. Well worth a visit if you are...
Read moreI had the Neopolitan pizza on Friday evening and it was disappointed. It was so big I could only eat half of it, and so laden with anchovie and cheese to be too salty and fatty. When the waiter took my plate I did the un-British thing and briefly explained why my meal had been disappointing, but there was no acknowledgement other than 'oh', before he took my plate and walked away. To be fair my partner and friend who I was with enjoyed...
